Sharp twinges 'down below'

Occasionaly tpday ive been getting quite faint sharp twinges down below, they are bearable but i can still feel them, they only last for a few seconds and never have any in a row, just the odd one here and there. Im 36 weeks, could this be the baby moving down into position? The baby is fine, he is really active and im not worried about the twinges just unsure what they could be!!

Could be that the baby is kicking a nerve on his way down. At 36 weeks, I would think he's heading that way! Braxton hicks have a tendency to go for a few/several/many tummy clenches in a row and then peter out (something that always annoyed me in the last month!) Is this your first baby? What are you doing at the time when you get a twinge? I'm 15 weeks with number 3 and get a sharp twinge whenever I get up suddenly - probably down to lack of tummy muscles now though for me!

i had this. does it feel like someone is stabbing you "down there" makes you jump up and squeal.

Yeh, me the same, got them late on in pregnancy, more with my 2 sons, dont know why, maybe coz they were alot larger in size than dd.

Maybe its a size thing

blueshoes · 26/08/2006 19:13

I know what you mean. I did not get them with dd who was very small at birth. But I am now 36 weeks as well and have been getting them for the past weeks with this baby, who is normal sized.

I had one this morning but nothing since fri! they were bearable, they didnt make me stop in my tracks! they were more like a sharp twinge for a few seconds. i was shopping with a friend, so if its the baby telling me to stop shopping till his here then he can think again! lol!

I read on here someone calling them crotch zingers!! That made me laugh, so now everytime I get one I think 'crotch zinger' and start laughing it goes away!

I get these pains too - usually when I've been on my feet a long time and have probably been overdoing it. They always seem to be in my pelvis or just low down. They're really painful - is this what labour pains will feel like?
