Hi
I was just over a week late on my 28day period so decided to do a pregnancy test. I bought a double pack and took both tests over the space of 2 days, the first one I did was in the middle of that day and the second was my first pee of the following day. Both tests were strongly positive .. They Took about 10 seconds for it to absorb my urine and come up with the cross! Me and my partner were really shocked but also very pleased. So I booked an appointment at the doctors and they calculated my dates without any tests (i was 6 weeks) and said that the hospital would be in touch. I should now be 8+1/2 weeks, I have an appointment on the 10th may for blood tests so its not too much longer to wait.. But I feel like it hasn't been confirmed properly. My breasts are tender and swollen still and I get cramps and sickness every few days, usually 2 times a week, I'm just getting worried and nervous that I've got my hopes up and I don't want to be let down! I am impatient, I just really want this to be perfect, I'm willing to change my whole life and I'm ready for this, any reassurance? Sad

I'm not an expert but you sound very pregnant to me! I never had a blood test. I think the urine tests are pretty reliable so the doctors assume they are right. I didn't get "official" confirmation until my first scan. "Luckily" I felt so crap by then I was pretty certain... Confused Confused

My gp told me that a positive pregnancy test is never wrong...it's the negative ones you have to be wary of...so congratulations! :-)

Both times my Dr has just relied on me telling them I'd had a positive test.
I was definitely pregnant. The tests are so good these days that it's not really worth them doing anything unless there is uncertainty such as one positive and one negative.

A positive POAS test is all they require to confirm. Next you will have booking in appt before 12 weeks and dating/NT scan by 13 weeks. That is the hospital's official confirmation that you are pregnant with a viable baby, and how far gone you are.

I know all seems an anti climax and a long wait, but they will only take further action sooner if you experience problems like bleeding.

If you want early confirmation that everything is ok you should book an early private scan, there isn't much they can do if things are not ok that early so I think they tend to just let nature do it's job.

Congratulations!
As Monkeybrain said a positive test result is ALWAYS right =)

I am pg with my first one (28wks now) and was very confused like you are atm. Start taking folic acid asap (if you are not already doing so) and wait for your booking appointment.
