Hi all,
Am 40+5 and starting to have to think seriously about sweep/induction. Baby still not engaged and seems very comfy where she is!
As I understand it, sweep would currently be a bit pointless as baby not engaged so cervix unlikely to be in good position to do it. But I'm a bit worried that I am just hearing what I want to hear because I find the whole idea horrible (hate smear tests even, usually in discomfort for several days after).
So am tempted to skip it and go straight to induction. At my local hospital you can do the first go at induction at home (you just go in for a bit of monitoring and to have the gel put in, but if all well you can go home after a couple of hours). Then if that works you can go onto the midwife led unit as usual. So that doesn't seem too bad an outcome if it works, but again, maybe my brain is bending the facts to match what I want to believe?
I know lots of people find sweep completely painless, or just uncomfortable, and maybe even if it hurts I should just suck it up (baby coming out will hurt more!). Just unsure of the benefits given my situation...
Thanks!
