Im 5 wks preg and been having cramping and achy stomach, i understand this is normal but had miscarriage 6 months ago and terrified it will happen again. The pain i felt last time was a sharp shooting pain from belly button down and real bad pain that woke me during the night the only relief was when i went to toliet. This doesnt feel like that but i cant help but worry. Im taking each day at a time but constantly checking for bleeding :-(

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I was in exactly the same boat as you during this pregnancy as I had a previous early MC. I was petrified at every cramp and twinge. You read it is normal but you cant help but worry. All I can say to you is that most people experience some form of cramping/twinges/pulling sensations - it really is the uterus growing and expanding for your little bean. Mine was worse around 5 weeks with some shooting pains. It felt better if I rested on the sofa and was usually worse after I had been active. I still continue to have twinges and pulling feelings now at 12+4. I have had 2 scans so far (one private at 8wks and an NHS at 12) and both show a perfectly healthy baby. It is natural to worry (and I checked for bleeding every 5 mins it seems). It does get easier as time goes on. I found the reassurance scan at 8 wks really helped me relax a little.

I wish you all the best in your pregnancy x

All the best to you on rest of your pregnancy and thank you.x
