Think I may be miscarrying

I'm 10+2 with DC2. This morning I started bleeding bright red blood. No pains, although an hour or so later the bleeding has no stopped and I have tummy cramps. Midwife said she'll book me into Early pregnancy unit for a scan tomorrow.

It took five years to conceive DS and two years to conceive this one. I'm 40 in a few months and feel this might be my last chance.

I will be devastated if I lose this baby.

I have a 10 months old DS2 and I experienced 3 or 4 very alarming bleeds of bright red blood between 11 weeks and 14 weeks when I was pregnant with him, including one bleed when the blood whooshed out of me. I was told that it was probably to do with the placenta implanting itself incorrectly into my blood vessels and causing blood loss. I had a completely normal pregnancy otherwise.

Thanks PelvicFloorTrauma - nice to hear a story with a positive outcome.

Googling suggests about 50% of bleeds result in miscarriage and 50% go on to term so I have my fingers firmly crossed.

GoooRooo - take good of yourself and take it easy today. Thinking of you.

GoooRooo · 27/04/2014 14:25

Thanks Cocoa. I'm in bed on advice of the midwife and DH is now in charge of rather boisterous two year old!

I'm hoping the fact the bleeding has stopped is a good sign.

Thinking do you. I don't want to give false hope but I bled with each of my pregnancies very heavily and my baby were fine. I hope it is the same for you.

morethanpotatoprints · 27/04/2014 14:29

Wishing you well OP.
Take it easy today and hope all is well tomorrow.

Busymumto3dc · 27/04/2014 14:50

A had a large bright red bleed at 16 weeks with my ds2 and went on to have a healthy baby

I did end up being monitored on the labour ward though which was not pleasant

Ferreroroche123 · 27/04/2014 15:14

I hemorrhaged at 11+6.. Bright red blood. Went to A&E who advised miscarriage. Scan the next day revealed perfectly happy baby and subchorionic hematoma. Am 27 weeks tomorrow.

I hope your bleeding stops and everything works out for you. Will keep everything crossed.

GoooRooo · 27/04/2014 15:16

Bleeding has started again and now quite bad tummy cramps Hmm

Thanks for all the handholding

Hey Gooroo, sorry you are going through this. I also had a big bleed and it was when I was 14 weeks. I was at work when it happened and I was petrified, a huge amount of fresh blood just gushed out of me. I went straight to hospital and was expecting to be told the worst but a scan showed a very contented baby. I now have a gorgeous 5 week old baby in my arms.

I really hope things have improved somewhat and the best of luck for your scan tomorrow. I hope you have someone to go with you for support x

Greenstone · 27/04/2014 19:55

Thinking of you GooRoo.

GoooRooo · 28/04/2014 07:18

Thanks ladies. I started bleeding again last night but have stopped overnight - I suspect because I've been laying down. Due to call the midwife at 9 and hope they have a slot available for a scan

Good luck this morning, I hope all goes well for you. I miscarried my first so I know how awful it is, almost 20 weeks now and had a bleed at 10 weeks which turned out ok Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Dizzywhore · 28/04/2014 07:42

Thinking of you op. I had a bleed early on with this pregnancy but all was fine. Sending you lots of luck for your scan xx

Mama1980 · 28/04/2014 08:56

Good luck I have everything crossed for positive news for you x

GoooRooo · 28/04/2014 10:41

No appointments available at EPU today. I have a scan booked for 10.15 tomorrow morning. Bleeding has started again but it is fairly light with some tummy cramps. Thank you all for thinking of me, just have to wait until tomorrow and see what that brings.

Hello Gooroo. So sorry you are going through this. It's hell. I had two MC after having DD1. And went on to have DD2 the week before I was 43. Please look after yourself if the worst happens. Keeping everything crossed for you.

GoooRooo · 29/04/2014 12:34

Had a scan this morning and sadly the baby had died at 6 weeks and my body had only just realised so I'm having a delayed miscarriage. Have to go back next Thursday to make sure I've lost everything or discuss medical management/surgical management. I'm heartbroken.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts and good wishes. I hope you all have very happy and healthy pregnancies x x
