I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. My experience was so dull back pain a few hours before the baby passed. Sad however I was expecting the pain to become very bad but it didn't. I think because I wasn't too far along (9 weeks but baby stopped growing at 6)

I think any over the counter pain meds and a hot water bottle should suffice x

Hi lori I'm so sorry you are going through this. It depends how far the pregnancy/sac progressed how much there is to pass, and whether you'll recognise it as anything other than a clot, but yes, your body does a mini version of labour to open up your cervix and expel the uterine contents, so it's not 'just like a period' as women are often told. Any normal painkillers are fine to use, if you are struggling your GP or the EPU can prescribe something stronger. If you get very heavy bleeding that fills a maxi pad in less than an hour or you feel unwell/dizzy/faint then you need to be checked out.
Do you know there's a miscarriage board on Mumsnet over in the body and soul section? lots of support available there if you want it. Flowers

So sorry you are going through this. I had an mc when I was 10 weeks and during the actual miscarrying, experienced very strong and painful contractions before passing the sac. The pain lasted about1/2 to an hour, and then reverted to period like cramps.

It was only when I went on to have dd1 that I realised that I had been experiencing contractions as the pain was similar.

You should still get checked out at hospital to ensure everything has passed and that nothing is retained as that might give you an infection.

Good luck for the future.

Hello. Sorry about your loss, ive had 3 mc's and my last one I bled for 3 weeks and was in really bad pain for 2weeks and for the last week it went like a period pain. THe only thing I could do to calm the pain was lying down in a ball and staying completely still... hope your ok. STay strong. BUt yeah defo get checked out to make sure everything has pass. XX

I'm also 9 weeks and baby measured 6 weeks! I went to ER with painful lower back pain, abdominal cramps and bleeding( not heavy like a period) I go tomorrow to test HCG levels and compare to hcg levels when I went to ER!
Please give me some kind of advice or hope!! I've already prepared for the worst :(
