Hi!

New member! Hello everyone!

I am 16 weeks pregnant and this is my second pregnancy.

I have had a far rougher time of it so far and I am feeling very tired and achey, which I guess is down to having a demanding 3 year old!

I am getting really bad headaches at the moment which are worrying me. I am not someone who gets headaches as a rule and it certainly wasn't a feature of my first pregnancy.

The Midwife says that its hormonal, but I waould love to hear from anyone who is going through anything similar, or who has had this experience, to put my mind at rest.

Thanks!

Hi there,

I too am suffering from headaches which seem to linger all day..... i've got one at the moment.

My friend had them during her pregnancy and recommends ''forehead'' which is herbal.

Yes! I had the same, they lasted for around 2-3 weeks, I remember it as a very distinct pain across the top of my head, but yes, it is hormonal, and it will pass! I'm also not a regular headache sufferer, maybe that is why it felt so intense, I was not use to how a headache should feel.

Wow - came online as I am suering from headaches this week - 13+5 wks - glad I am not the only one! It feels like a tension headache in the base of my neck, but can't take anything for it. Have appt with midwife tomorrow so will mention it then! No much help sorry!

Mum2FunkyDude · 24/08/2006 19:44

I was just told to use paracetamol, not more than 2 a day!

Nelly2478 · 24/08/2006 20:00

Thanks...as bad as it sounds it comforting to now I am not the only one! I am also off to see the midwife tomorrow to get checked over.

Hi and welcome to Mumsnet!

I remember with both my pregnancies I had excruciating headaches at about the same gestation that you are now. I rang the maternity ward who said I could take paracetamol and they also recommended drinking plenty of water, as the headaches could have been due to dehydration. They said if it persisted to get my bp checked as it could also have been high blood pressure.

I'm 19 wks and my slight but annoying every couple of days headaches seem to be progressing to proper Migraines (flashing lights followed by blinding headaches and 2). I've only had 1 minor and 1 major so far, but the trend is not looking good.

Apart from the couple of paracetamol I am allowed and up-ing my water intake, is there anything else I can do to counter balance this hormonal upset???

Juicylucytoo · 04/01/2007 11:00

"and 2" should have read: and nausea / 2 days of lingering headachy pain.

lulumama · 04/01/2007 11:02

Juicy- visual disturbances in pregnancy need to be checked out ..have you had your BP & Wee checked lately? and were they ok?

Juicylucytoo · 04/01/2007 11:16

Had my 20wk docs check-up yesterday. Wee and BP were fine.

lulumama · 04/01/2007 11:16

ok, good.....what does midwife/ doc say about the migraines?
