Depends on your diet, if you bf, if you exercise, if you are active ... impossible to predict really. Also depends on how much you put on during pregnancy.

I went back to work as a zumba instructor for 3 hours a week when DS was 9 months old. That did the job.

Does bf help lose weight. Also heard it helps everything go back

My mum retired HV has always told me you use 3000calories a day when you bf. That's a lot of calories. I have heard other helath practicioners say that some women use pregnancy as an excuse to pig out, so they gain more than they should, and then have more to lose after the birth. I think I will lose it all a bit quicker this time because Ill be walking DS to and from nyrsery everyday.

Breastfeeding uses up a lot of your body's energy, so yeah it's a great way of losing weight. I think it's up to 500 cals a day?

As a PP said, it's totally dependant on your diet and lifestyle after you give birth, generally speaking though if you have spare weight to lose that your body doesn't need it shouldn't take much to shift it.

It's also dependent on your genetics. Despite eating very sensibly, I didn't lost a lot of weight in the first six months (other than obviously the weight of the baby, waters, etc). But then the weight fell off me, from roughly the same point. I've been told that that's pretty common.

I had about 10kg to lose after DS and bfed for 18mo. Pigged out for 18mo too and result was I didn't lose - or gain any weight. Had I not been bfeeding I'd have been twice the size. Weaned at 18mo after cutting back slowly from 14/15mo but carried on pigging out. A week after I gave up bfing for good I literally ballooned. I think bfing was only thing keeping my weight in check.
Now 12wk pg with DC2 and heavier than I want to be but not going to make same mistake again. Going to bfeed myself skinny this time!!

Very similar experience to flipflop! I was a size 14-16 before getting pregnant, went down to a small 12 very quickly after birth through breastfeeding. Stopped feeding at 14 months and the weight went straight back on. Nearly 12 weeks pregnant now, going to eat sensibly this time towards the weaning stage!
