Do people always get morning sickness with girls?

I'm about 8 weeks and have been feeling very sick. The small handful of people I have told keep telling me that it's a girl if I feel sick. And actually, if I think about it, all my friends that have girls were sick in the first 12 weeks.

Or have any of you had girls and not been sick? Or boys and been sick?

I don't mind what I have BTW. Still at the stage of just hoping I make it to 12 weeks!!

no it doesn't mean anything.

DS - sick as a dog in hospital and on a drip
DD - felt ill but never actually vomited.

The only thing it means is that your body is adjusting to the hormones in it.

Bowlersarm · 25/04/2014 16:25

I had boys - no sickness!!

rabbitrisen · 25/04/2014 16:26

Mine was worse with boys.

littlegreengloworm · 25/04/2014 16:27

In nearly 8 weeks had no sickness last year with DS, sickness this time hmmmm...

SouthDerbyshireMamma · 25/04/2014 16:28

I vommed upto 18 weeks and it made a return at 27 weeks. Im expecting a boy. There is no truth in these old wives tales

ginmakesitallok · 25/04/2014 16:28

2 girls, no morning sickness. Means nothing

noblegiraffe · 25/04/2014 16:28

No sickness with either of mine, boy or girl.

moggle · 25/04/2014 16:29

My friend had HG with her first - a boy - and nothing with her second, a girl.

Although I've heard both sexes given as the explanation for morning sickness, I do wonder if, on an individual level, sickness could be related to the sex of a baby. Now someone come along and tell me they had equal amounts of sickness with DD and DS!

Standinginline · 25/04/2014 16:29

Didn't have sickness with neither and I've got a boy and a girl. I had a bit of nausea with both but none more than the other.

Clearlymisunderstood · 25/04/2014 16:29

2 girls no sickness. My mum had 3 girls and one boy and was only sick on the boy.

Northernexile · 25/04/2014 16:29

Congrats! I had DD two years ago, absolutely no sickness, queasiness, nothing. 10 weeks pg again now and feel like utter crap. Have a feeling it's a girl still, so make of that what you will! Grin

BikeRunSki · 25/04/2014 16:29

I had hyperemisis with dd. But also ds.

firesidechat · 25/04/2014 16:30

2 girls. No morning sickness at all.

My mum had 1 girl and 2 boys. No morning sickness with any of them.

It's a ridiculous old wives tale.

FreeLikeABird · 25/04/2014 16:32

Ds - felt sick.
Dd - so so sick, hospitalised on a drip.

NutellaLawson · 25/04/2014 16:34

ds1 puking up to ten times a day for 12 weeks.

ds2 less puking (1-2x a day) but soul crushing nausea for 24 weeks.

If carrying fuels is worse I dread to think how bad it could be. I lost a lot of weight with both my boys. so much so I had no baby weight to lose after they were born.

OublietteBravo · 25/04/2014 16:35

Congratulations!

In answer to your question:
DD - felt sick (usually in the afternoon)
DS - felt sick (usually in the evening)

PastaandCheese · 25/04/2014 16:35

I have a DD and a DS.

No sickness in either pregnancy.

WineSpider · 25/04/2014 16:35

No sickness, not even a hint of queasiness at any point.

Had a girl.

Convinced she was a boy mainly thanks to this and various other old wives' tales. Including that ridiculous Chinese gender guess chart thing.

The sex of your baby is entirely random and cannot be predicted - if you want to find out before the birth you can ask if it is possible at your anomaly / 20 week scan.

Or you could be one of those people who is controlled and patient enough to wait. I wasn't!

LynetteScavo · 25/04/2014 16:36

I had less sickness with DD, than with DSs. But maybe I'd learned to manage it better third time around.

Lj8893 · 25/04/2014 16:37

I didn't have any sickness, just the odd bit of nausea. I have a girl.

hubbahubster · 25/04/2014 16:39

No sickness this time and it's a girl. No sickness last time either, although I had some strong food aversions, and it was a boy.

In fact, I've had no symptoms this time other than a bump!

RedPony · 25/04/2014 16:40

congratulations! I'm having a boy and my sickness only stopped at about 22 Weeks. I'm 29 weeks now and still feel nauseous now and then. on the other hand my friend is expecting a girl in the same week as me and she has had no sickness what so ever

n0seyb0nk · 25/04/2014 16:40

I have a DD and a DS.

I had hideous all day nausea with both of them. I think I was actually sick more with DD though, with DS it was just dry heaves.

UriGeller · 25/04/2014 16:43

3 boys, no morning sickness.
One girl, ill as a dog for 3 months.

I still wouldn't read anything into that though. Wasn't Kate (of Will and Kate) hospitalised with hyperemesis gravidarum and she went on to have a boy?

MollyBdenum · 25/04/2014 16:43

DD: felt like crap. Vomited 6-8 times a day. Felt like 3 months of stomach bug.
DS: felt like crap. Only vomited a couple of times a day, but still had pretty much constant nausea. Felt like the sort of hangover that makes you vomit and take the day off work, only one that lasts for 4 months.
