will be fine..just relax. A lot of women bleed in pregnancy[ I have in 2 of mine, one quite heavily]. Internal scan is very intimate obviously as it is a bit like a vibrator type thing that they insert to see baby as it is too small to pick up from normal tummy scan. Believe me it feels embarassing but by the end of your pregnancy/labour half the hospital will have seen your bits so dont worry. They do it day in day out.

try not to worry too much - chances are everything will be fine. the scan itself is very straightforward, I have had a few! I recommend wearing a skirt, it makes things much simpler - you just take off your undies, lay back on the bed and they will place a sheet across you to preserve your modesty. Then the ultrasound operator will gently insert the scan probe thingy and move it around from side to side until they can get a clear picture of your uterus. It might be a little bit uncomfortable, but they use plenty of lubricant and the more you can relax the easier it is!! take someone along with you to hold your hand and take your mind off it a bit! good luck!

Hi Julie

I also had some loss at 6 weeks and had to go for a scan the next day, they said they would try a normal ultrasound but they made me aware that i might need an internal like you. I said fine because obviously your main priority is checking the baby. As it turned out i didnt need the internal but thought i would let you know that my bleeding was either down to a harmless cyst on one of my ovaries that had burst, or the fact that where the placenta has not fully formed yet a piece can come away but it causes no problems, and everything was fine after that. Im sure you will be the same, dont worry and do take someone if you can.

Good luck & Take care x

Ahh im really pleased for you Juls, it is so amazing to see that little heartbeat isnt it? Hopefully you will have plain sailing from now on. x

glad all went well. It's not the best of experiences BUT when you see that heartbeat everything else seems irrelevant. xx
