Hideous acne :(

11+5 and it's really grim. Can anyone tell me if it gets better or am I doomed to have a pizza face for 40 weeks?

My hideous skin and hair in my 2nd pregnancy was cos there was 2 in there.

ahem. No, scan is on Sat. There is no history at all of twins in our family! MS has been mild so I would be v surprised? That must have been a shock for you - did the acne stay all pregnancy?

I had really bad spots during the first trimester for both DS and current pregnancy (24 weeks). In both cases, it cleared up by around week 14. Fingers crossed it's the same for you! So depressing, isn't it - especially if you're feeling rough too. I feel for you!

I've had terrible skin in the first timester for both this and my previous pregnancy. It cleared up in the second trimester last time and then my skin was the best it has ever been! I'm praying the same happens this time.

sorry! it's the worst.... I was using mama mio and it was helping, but very expensive. switched to salcura antiac and i've had better skin in the last week then I can ever remember. it's a wash and spray and it's all natural. worth a try!

Hi I'm 14 weeks today, my skin has been awful. I've defiantly only got one in there though.

I feel about 13 not 23 lol, I got a witch stick from boots works to dry them out, even my chest is covered. Embarrassing. :( xx

Oh thanks guys, I'm really relieved to hear that for a lot of you it cleared up by 14ish weeks. I do suffer with mild acne normally but it definitely was not like this with my last pregnancy. I feel like a total hag and am embarrassed to show my face :(

nyldn, thanks, I'll have a look at those products. The last few days I've been trying Effaclar Targeted Breakout Corrector and while I think it is helping, it is also bringing every single nasty that was lurking under my skin to the surface. It might be a case of it getting worse before it gets better.

So unfair!

Im not pg but I did go through a phase. I found freederm, you can get it in a cleanser or face wash.

From about week 10-12 I had terrible spots and then they vanished for the duration of the pregnancy

Nip and Fab glycolic fix serum and Zineryt lotion (prescription) are working well for me. Skin was awful first trimester. Better now at nearly 28 weeks.

i had terrible acne and it is still flaring up at times (including now! big cystic ones). I am 23+3 and having a girl.

nearly 30wks & mine is no better. face chest & back affected. have tried just about every acne wash/wipe/cleanser/cream going & nothing helping me. hope yours clears up soon

Mine has eased since about week 12 (week 16 now) but it's by no means back to normal yet.

I've found Eau Thermale Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser from Boots keeps it at bay, and certainly doesn't aggravate it (like my normal face wipes were).

I also use Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser a couple of times a week which helps.

I find Sudocrem is also good for particularly nasty spots. And I've been more 'thorough' in sticking to my regime - no more sleeping in my make up and moisturising twice a day.

Me too, stress makes mine worse, it has cleared up a little since 14 weeks, but left me with awful scars that look just as bad, all I can do is smother make up on, I do have olive pigment to my skin & read pregnancy makes any pigmentation darker

Can I ask if anyone on this thread knows what they are having, I've been told acne means a girl, bit won't find out till Friday!

mine's a boy, but I've always struggled w my skin, so I knew there was no way I was getting through pregnancy unscathed! clarisonic brush helps as well. as does bravura dermaflannel.

I was interested to read all the comments as I too am suffering with acne. Difference is its not on my face but on my chest/cleavage! Not very attractive when I have nasty yellow spots on my boobs. I'm currently 19wk+4 and I think its only started over the last few weeks.
Anyone else?

Not happy either, I've been using bicarbonate of soda and water as a scrub or face mask and manuka honey left of over night for about a week. Not much has happened but I haven't really had many new ones pop up.

I don't know what I'm having. I've always struggled a bit with my skin too but this is just ridiculous :( I had a girl last time and my skin wasn't perfect but it certainly did not erupt like this. I think just every pregnancy is different.

Effaclar Targeted Breakout Corrector seems to be drying the spots up, but slowly. I don't think that new ones are appearing but it's hard to tell.

I am now glumly eating an Easter egg because it seems I may as well.
