Hay fever woes

Hello

Is anyone else suffering with hay fever and how are you dealing with it?

I've not suffered with hay fever at all for about 7-8 years. Woke up this morning not with the usual dead legs, urge to wee, or cramps in my legs, but instead constantly sneezing! It's a new one for me. I've got a horrid sore tickly throat and a snotty nose and I'm not happy!! Read up online and discovered there appears to be nothing I can take other than the old favourite, paracetamol!

Does anyone have any remedies to help shift it?!

There are some homeopathic balms you can get (chemists etc sell them). Don't know how well they work. I just use a little Vaseline at the bottom of my nose which I find eases nasal symptoms.

Sorry to hear you are suffering from hayfever, I had this problem over the past few weeks. The pharmacist recommended this stuff; Prevalin, www.boots.com/en/Prevalin-Allergy-140-doses_1209123/ - it was average, you have to use it before the allergy fully develops, as its like a barrier from pollen. Anyway I was advised that there was no other remedy, so I carried on with it. What I wouldn't give for a anti histamine! Good Luck!

There are some antihistamines safe to take in
pregnancy- your doctor can prescribe them. I asked my GP for some during last pregnancy and took them sparingly but with no side effects.

I have moderately bad hayfever, gp said I can take most otc meds, the beconase is topical (nasal spray) and the eye drops are safe too

I took cetrixine prescribed by the doctor.

Gp can prescribe anti-histamines that are safe.

Also try using the Lloyds allergy reliever - it's bizarre but drug free and does really work

It's not too bad at the moment just very irritating! I've done really well so far, made it through the winter to 28 weeks without a cold or anything! Thought it would be plain sailing through the spring, never expected hay fever!! I will potter down the chemist tomorrow and see what they offer to get me through the bank holiday!!

If it gets worse I'll most certainly be making a trip to see the doctor.

I used something called haymax last year when pregnant with Ds. It's amazing and not very expensive. I got it from boots. Hope it helps.

Last time I couldn't persuade my GP to prescribe me anything except saline nasal spray. So it depends on how risk-averse your doctor is whether they will give you any antihistamines.
So far this time am not in need, but the bunged-up blech is horrible. Local honey is meant to help if you can get hold of some (assuming you are not in Central London ).

I'm pretty sure you can use eye drops and nasal sprays. Worth checking with a pharmacist

oooo Im glad someone else is suffering no on a serious note I have had a bad few days, which had to happen whilst away from home. The pharmicist said they wouldnt give me anything unless I had a note from my midwife/GP

Going to make an apt next week just so I can stock up on something to ease it...hopefully!!!

Thank goodness I'm not the only one. Going to go to GP on Tuesday to get something prescribed. Because I'm so bunged up, I'm not sleeping properly and feel awful all day. I can cope with the sneezing, it's the itchy eyes and ears that drive me nuts.

I woke up sneezing today too. I don't normally get hayfever until May/
June ish so didn't think that was it. After my last pregnancy my hayfever disappeared for two years, but then came back. Will take a look at remedies.
