I'm going out of my mind. I am 17 weeks and itchy everywhere, giving myself brusies and marks from rubbing constantly. No matter how much I moisturise it won't stop. Is anyone else in the itchy stage? I just hope it passes and isn't going to hang around for the rest of the pregnancy!

Have you mentioned this to your MW? If not, you should as severe itching during pregnancy can (but is not always!!!) a symptom of problems with your liver.

Apart from that...buy stock in calamine lotion!!!! Really hope for you it gets better soon as I can imagine it must be a bloody pain!

Agree with Captain. If it is unbearable it could be a sign of cholestasis.

Check out the symptoms here-

My liver tests borderline for OC and I've been very itchy from early on. I'm now prescribed an antihistamine, use shed loads of aquius cream, and find cold water makes it worse! The only time I don't itch it's when I'm in a just warm shower.

I happened to google "itching in pregnancy" whilst sat in drs waiting room waiting for midwife appt. I-d been up all night itching & just thought it might be a prego thing. So glad I did... blood test minutes later after mentioning to midwife & it was Obstetric Cholestasis. However, from what I understand this usually happens in third trimester. worth mentioning asap. make appt to see midwife & good luck xx

I thought it would be nothing to worry about as it's not just feet and legs, and I had an NHS weekly update that mentioned itching so i assumed it's just a pregnancy thing. I will give the mw a ring or maybe ask my GP.

If its not OC, and it turns out to just be pregnancy itch - I found eurax cream really good at cutting the itch way down. Otherwise it was maddening!!

But fingers crossed everything is ok!
