Two random things - should I go to the doctor or just accept that they are side-effects of pregnancy?

First random thing: extremely itchy legs and arms at night time. I wake up scratching about an hour after going to bed and I have ripped my legs to shreds. It lasts about 30 mins of full-on itching and then takes me another hour to get back to sleep.

Second random thing: extreme pain in my vulva. (Hate that word but tis anatomically correct). It's like a dull bruised ache in my labia, perineum and vagina. Much worse when I'm sitting down and agony to touch like wiping my bum or anything.

I am 15 weeks tomorrow so just into second trimester. Have finally stopped throwing up (yay!) and now I have these two special effects. What do you reckon?

I have had really bad itching through pregnancy but it's on my tummy which is meant to be normal with it stretching, it's completely numb aswell. As for your arms and legs I'm not sure why that is, the skin reacts differently when pregnant so could it be mayb something u have used on them? If not I would mention it to your midwife either way to put your mind at rest. Also had the very sore "vulva" hehe and all inside feels heavy and bruised on the left side of the pelvic bone area, mentioned it to my midwife and she said it's normal with the baby pushing down and getting ready to come out, have had this since about 24 weeks so don't really know how early on it would start. So mayb mention your soreness to midwife aswell, there is something called spd I've heard of, look it up and see if it sounds similar to what you are experiencing. Hope u manage to get it sorted out :) x

Congratulations on your pregnancy

Please phone midwife today about the itching they really dont mind they much rather you phone than suffer, the itching could be somthing to do with your liver so get it checked asap it might be nothing though and then you will be able to relax Smile x

Agree the itching could be liver related.

You can also get varicose veins in your vulva, which may be why you are in pain.

Def call the MW to discuss. You'll have a 16 week apt soon won't you?

Have just emailed the consultant to see what he thinks. I hate bothering people but the consensus here was to get it checked out so I am reassured I'm doing the right thing! Thank you lovely ladies of Mumsnet.

I had woejus (my own made up word, i think!) itching on legs and arms around your gestation- midwife suggested taking a break from the Pregnacare and lo and behold it cleared.. i now just take VitD and Omega supplements instead, and iron every second day. Something in the pregnacare was agitating me obviously.
As for the vulva pain- you soudn early (to me) to have this so definitely you're doing the right thing by checking! best of luck.

I would definitely get checked. Yes pregnancy comes with all sorts of uncomfortable side effects, but shouldnt have to suffer needlessly if there is something they can do.

Call the doc. Itching is very common (I have it but the mW gave me the 'just one of those things' all clear, at least I know!) But on hands/feet/legs can be a sign of liver issues.

I get odd twinges too! Again I got mine checked and was OK, better safe than sorry.
