Navel piercings/bump/rejection

I've got the top and bottom of my navel pierced, the bottom with a hoop and the top with a barbell. The piercer I went to see about getting a ptfe hoop and bar put in said I'd probably be fine keeping the hoop in but the barbell should be replaced with a ptfe one.

Has anyone else kept an ordinary hoop in their lower navel during pregnancy? I'm 7 months gone and still have a lot of growing to do. When the bump expands the curve of the piercing will change and so surely I need something more flexible in there? I don't want to lose the piercing!

Halp?

I kept my belly bar in right through pregnancy (surgical steel). Only had to take it out when had to go to theatre. The only thing I'd say from my point of view is my belly button has stretched and now the bar sits wonky! I would have took it out and let it heal then got it redone so it sits straight! But that's just me!

That's interesting. I think my bar (at the top of my navel) is about to run out of room - it's 12 mm long but I think I really need a 14 mm one. Tbh, I could probably just put a bar in the bottom navel one.

I don't mind if it ends up sitting wonky. I got the them done about 13 years ago so I am doubtful if they would fully close up anyway!

I have top and bottom belly button piercings too. When I was pregnant I used plastic bars designed for use during pregnancy. They can be cut to size but I just kept them long. They were from Argos.
