Hi, I'm due early July and have been seeing in the news that we could be getting the hottest summer on record. Would normally relish being off work while the sun is shining but already feel uncomfortable at 28 wks so it's only going to get worse! Not to mention how you're supposed to keep a newborn cool when it's sweltering outside...

Anyone got any tips or ideas how to cope?

I just can't believe you're already worrying about this. Chances are we won't have a really hot summer (the long range weather forecasts are almost never accurate) - so don't stress about something as inconsequential as this! Stress isn't good for your baby.

I was 36 weeks pg on the hottest day ever recorded in the UK and had a two year old to look after. I did feel sorry for anyone giving birth on that day. It was hot, but come on!

I'm due 1st August, and totally worrying about it being hot this summer! But then I remember, its England, so summer hopefully wont be that hot! I'll be living on the coast for the last month, so will be spending a lot of time at the beach in the sea probably.

Every year the Daily Mirror/Sun/some other tabloid runs a sensational story about the hottest summer on record and rarely does it ever happen so I would take that with a huge pinch of salt. I'm due 15th August and live in Scotland so struggling through heatwaves isn't something I worry about a lot!

Yeah i'm dreading it! But weirdly looking forward too because I had a newborn in the summer and found that a nightmare. I think I'd rather be hot and bothered than sleep deprived and lactating in the heat.

I'm due in mid-September and will be spending the last 4 months in Athens where the temperature hits 40-43 degrees during heat waves and the smog is awful. I am not looking forward to it! We'll be getting some portable airconditioning units because I think it could also be dangerous to be without for the newborn.
