Does anyone know how to measure a cot for a mattress? Mama's and papas cots come in 3 sizes, 200, 300, 400 which means absolutely nothing in real terms. I'm looking at buying a mattress from Argos as I have vouchers and there cheaper. The only thing is they measure them in cm not the magical m&p sizes. I know there's something about size of gaps around the edges but can't remember what they are supposed to be. Can anyone shed some light before I give up??

Hi, we had the same problem as bought a second hand cot that isn't made anymore so couldn't just ask the shop what mattress to get.
You need to assemble the cot and then measure the base from the inside to find out what size mattress. Try reading this page for more information.

This page gives you the dimensions for m&p mattress sizes.

I've bought mattresses from kiddicare as couldn't face the m&p prices - I tried to match up the dimensions but found they were often a cm or so different. They fit fine (I went for bigger dimensions so there wouldn't be a gap). Also check reviews of mattresses, the ones I bought had comments from buyers saying they fitted their m&p cot perfectly, which gave me the confidence to buy.

I have a standard m&p cot (not cot bed). Mothercare and John Lewis cot sheets fit fine (not cot bed).
