I just wanted to see if other women have the same feelings as me regarding baby bumps - im 17 weeks, my friend is 13 weeks and i know theres a month between us but she literally has NO bump at all yet and i know back when i was around 11 weeks pregnant i had a little fat belly sticking out and now obviously its got bigger to the point where you would probably assume i was pregnant and not fat.

Were both similar builds pre pregnancy size 10 same height 5ft5, her second my third. Why do ihave a huge bump compared to her?! i feel like im the fat one and shes the skinny wont put on a pound more than she has to during pregnancy one Sad
Shes probably thinking the opposite and really wants a bump but i just wish i didnt show so quickly. This is a stupid thread i know but i just feel a bit crappy and big and wanted to know if this was normal bump worry?!

squizita I'm a size 8/10, 5'3" and didn't show at all till after 20 weeks with my first. I'm on my second and still in normal clothes at 16 weeks. I did have a reasonably small baby but not tiny (6 lb 14 oz), born 5 days overdue, no issues whatsoever.

I'm 5'2 with a small/no bump as well squiz.

So I know what you mean that it's not always great to hear you 'should' have a bump if you're small. I was a wobbly size 12 so I think my wobbly belly is getting stuff pushed around it and hopefully that's why there's no real bump yet. But I still worry...

squiz people just say anything mw included! Im having growth scans and the baby is on the 33rd percentile so by no means big and my fluid is normal I obviously just carry all at the the front I've had a definate bump since about 16 weeks my consultant even commented on it even though at that point I still weighed less than pre pregnancy due to horrendous ms! Big or small people will always poke their noses in as long as baby is fine that's all that matters.
Not long to go until your 20 week scan then :)

With my son, I did eventually get a big obvious bump (though probably smaller than the average 40 week bump)- but he went two weeks over and was still only 7lb 4oz.

I have low papp-a so concerned that means this will be a smaller baby. We'll see.

This is a bit of a weird time - I also feel a bit like I'm not really pregnant or that something has gone wrong - I look more or less the same, I won't have a scan between 12 and 20 weeks, there aren't any movements at this time (I think I felt a flutter 2 weeks ago, but i know what they feel like already, and I haven't had anything since…)

It's easier once you have a bump and movements.

That said I think there are lots of advantages to carrying small.

If I wasn't a bit fat, I'd have no bump type thing. I can feel that it's hard underneath, and is clearly pushing my fat tummy out further, but if I didn't have the fat it would just be a hard abdomen.

I'm 32 weeks and I feel huge. Have done most of my pregnancy.... In fact I have done most of my life. Which I suspect is telling as my BMI pre preg was about 25. I measured 33 weeks yesterday so healthy range really, although a few people have made the 'are you sure there's just one' type comments.(mental note to self never ever to comment on someone's bump size ever again). I feel envious of ladies with a neater bump, but of course I would be worried if I thought my baby wasn't growing too. As someone earlier said- the grass is always greener.

A work colleague of mine is 23wks and I'm 16, but I think our bumps are pretty much the same size... she's very slight and petite, while I'm 5ft6in and kind of average build.

I read somewhere that if you have good abdominal muscle tone, it may take longer for a bump to appear. I most definitely do not have good muscle tone...

My bump is the same size this time around (number 2) at 33 weeks, as it was at 40 weeks with number 1!!

I am very uncomfortable so can't say I'm embracing the bump as it tends to be the cause of my misery right now!

and with the season changing and pretty dresses about in the shops I am really getting sick of having this giant appendage.

I am also worried as Dd1 was 10lbs 5ounces so freaking out about the possible size of this child!

That being said I am very lucky as it's all bump. I have put on no weight anywhere else.

Also when I look at people with smaller bumps I feel grateful that at least I look pregnant and can't be mistaken for bloated/a bit chubbed up anymore!
I don't know. After Dd1 I lost the weight but my skin stretched as it does and I had/have diastasis recti with a large naval hernia...so would much rather a baby bump than a less than flat tum.
