Has anyone got any amazing home remedies. 12 weeks pregnant with my third and after just getting over a sicky bug then flu then a water infection I now have a horrible hacking cough. Trying to stay off paracetamol and other cold flu remedies as I'm staying on my antidepressants for the first two trimesters and iv already had two lots of antibiotics. Any advice gratefully appreciated :)

Sorry Matildasmam22 that sounds really rubbish. I don't have any amazing home remedies but is your cough chesty? I had a horrendous chest infection once and the dr told me to have a steamy shower twice a day and if poss try to cough then. Also when you do cough cross your arms over your chest to support your diaphragm. That helped me a lot because I was in pain from coughing so much and just holding myself like that when I did made a bit of difference. I do hope you feel better soon.

Try Manuka honey, my mum raves about it. Also, get some hefty probiotics from boots to build you up. And rest, are you getting enough sleep?

Thanks londonJen and gen35 I have been to the doctors and it's not on my chest just viral. I'm just a bit fed up of catching everything that's going round. Then I read the severe morning sickness thread and feel bad for moaning when there's obviously a lot of ladies going through much worse :(. I will try the honey and probiotics though it sounds like a good plan. I sleep fine I have a 14 month old but she's quite a good sleeper and I have my DP well trained.

I sympathise, I caught every bug when pg and bf, with dc2 so far I've been luckier. Coughs are so difficult as all the proper medicine is banned! Hope it works!! I've definitely found I get a lot fewer bugs with the probiotics.
