This has probably been discussed on here endlessly, but I'm looking for a little reassurance. I'm 7+6 and last night and today have had some sharp pains low down. I've had cramps and twinges before, and have been very sensible and dismissed them as nothing and they've gone, but this time I'm starting to worry a bit.

I've had no spotting and am probably being silly, but I'm not seeing the midwife for my booking appointment for another 2 and a half weeks, and when I saw the doctor at 5 weeks, she was a bit scary, quoting miscarriage stats at me and telling me I had to keep on top of things, but I have no number to call and am off to wales for a holiday tomorrow, and the place we are staying has no mobile signal or internet.

I'm usually very sensible and calm, but if would be great to know if this is normal...

Who knows what's normal frankly. I'm almost 16 weeks and have had period cramp type pains along with random sharp twinges and twangs since before I even knew I was pregnant. Today for example I have a throbbing pain on the left lower side. Yesterday it was the right side.

Unless it's associated with bleeding, or is excruciating, doctors don't seem to consider aches and pains a big deal. In terms of going away, if there is something wrong then there is nothing you can do to stop it. I've just carried on with my stuff figuring what will be will be.

Try not to worry, I'm nearly 36 weeks and I've had random pains and twitches constantly since before I knew I was pregnant. Spoke to my midwife early on and as PP said they only tend to be concerned if the pain is combined with cramping/bleeding. As for going away, you'll be fine. I went to New York when I was 8 weeks and remember walking around Central Park with sharp twitchy pains down below! I know it's hard not to worry but your booking appointment will be here before you know it. Have a great holiday Smile

I'm 14 weeks and have had cramps, pains and twinges all the way along. My doctor and midwife have said they are normal and are just your body stretching and adjusting for pregnancy.

I know it's hard not to worry - I still do! But don't let it ruin your holiday, relaxing and enjoying the break will be good for you!

Enjoy!

Thanks ladies, you've made me feel much better. I've been doing really well with the whole not worrying thing until today. Rather than worrying out the twinges, I think I need to try and work out how I'm going to hide the fact I'm feeling sick all the time and off the booze from 23 members of my family for a week... :)
