Embarrassing problem down there....

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and am really itchy down there. I am also having loads of yellow discharge (sorry if tmi).
Is this thrush? I've never had it before so I'm not sure.
Also (sorry again in advance for this) after having sex it really burns down there. And if I try and have a wee after its so bad it brings tears to my eyes. Do I just sit it out until I have given birth or is there anything I can do? I'm embarrassed about the upcoming internals and stuff when this is going on.

Please help

Dont worry you are not the first pg lady that has this nor will you be the last! Go and see your gp, explain whats going on and they'll treat you accordingly, I had it but can't for the life of me remember what it was though, see you do lose braincells!

it sounds like you have thrush. its very common for pregnant women, i had it around the same time and used canesten for it and it went. it was so irritating and sore. didnt have sex when i had thrush, can pass it to partner

Ahh bless you, try no to be embarrassed, but might be more comfortable asking your midwife I agree, but if it gets unbearable go to the drs or get some canesten over the counter, being pg esp at 37 weeks is uncomfortable enough without all that going on!!

So does thrush cause the burning too then?

Oh yes!
Thrush causes horrible burning after sex. I've been lucky this pregnancy and only had it once. It's actually much more likely in pregnancy than at other times (because of the increased blood sugar levels IIRC).
It's really common, the MW will have had loads of pregnant woman with it, honest.

Thanks for all your replies. I'll ask her, I really need to sort it now. I've been suffering for a week!

That really does sound like thrush although the discharge is usually a white / cream colour I think. Yes it definitely burns inside and when you wee! I had it a couple of weeks ago and my Doctor said it is safe to take Canestan 200mg pessary (1 every night for 3 nights) and you don't insert it all the way up just incase! Then use the 1% cream on the externals. Check with the pharmacist that they think it's ok with your number of weeks pregnant. If it aint thrush, then it won't help! If it is thrush you will feel better within a day or two and the cream will really help! Pharmacists are brill - you just say 'I think I have thrush' and they will guide you through the symptom checking and it's not embarassing at all as the location has already been established!
