All was going very well until about a week ago (51/2 weeks) when I had some very very slight pink bleeding (tiny amount now and again). I went to the doctors anyway and she sent me for a scan tody. It was a transvaginal scan and although you could celarly see the yolk sac there was no foetal pole or heartbeat. I have been told to come back in 2 weeks for a rescan. I will go out of mind with worry as I have convinced myself that I have a blighted ovum and that the baby is dead. Has anyonbe else had this and can advise me either way?

I had similar - thought baby was ectopic as yolk sac was empty. They measured my HCG levels and as they doubled - was seen as a normal pregnancy, if memory serves me right. Then I had another scan three or four days later, and there was a ickle bean in the sac, no heart beat though, as was too early - but all is fine now, 33 weeks

good luck - keep happy, I know it's ever so hard x

I had an early scan at 6 weeks and had to go back two weeks later because they couldn't see a heartbeat. The second scan was fine and eventually I had a healthy baby girl. Don't give up hope and try not get too stressed about it. Easier said than done I know.

try not to worry, same happened with me... am now 29weeks preg. docs can take your hcg hormone levels though... need to do it twice, 48 hours apart, if they double, its a really good sign.. really halped me to know. can you go to the epu?

Yep, same here. I had a fair amount of bleeding and cramping. No pole at 5ish weeks. 2 weeks later, they saw her heartbeat (and now she is 4!).

The waiting is awful isn't it?

I could be wrong, but I think, statistically, that it is much more likely that your baby is ok, than not.

Thanks for this. I suppose nature will take its course. Just cant beleive how attached you get to these things so soon.

I had heavy bleeding at about 5/6 weeks and had a scan but no heartbeat was visible.
I went back the week after and it was fine!
I think it's quite normal not to be able to see a heartbeat that early, so try not to worry too much.
