Horrific Corsodyl advert targeted at pregnant women

Can't believe the advert I just saw, was on a webpage that had some reviews on best prams, and up pops an advert that first shows an image of a positive pregnancy test, followed by the text "you're expecting" then slides to an image of blood all over a plughole, followed by the text "you weren't expecting gum disease", followed by Corsodyl bottle.

Honestly absolutely gobsmacked that anyone could ever think that is an appropriate way to advertise to pregnant women! The normal Corsodyl adverts on TV are horrific enough, but to deliberately show pregnant women images of blood everywhere is grotesque! Really think Glaxo Smith Kline have gone too far!

Am I alone in my rage? Actually registered a complaint with ASA!

Especially as bleeding gums in pregnancy isn't even the same as in normal life! It's a symptom for many women and not 'gum disease'. Angry

Also I'm pretty sure corsodyl says not safe for use while pregnant or breastfeeding!

Oh my goodness that is horrendous! I've not seen it but I'll keep an eye out for it now and definitely put in a complaint if I see it!

Not seen it yet but thats a good thing I guess. I just been to my dentist who said some bleeding is normal but not to
Worry and make sure I floss etc....
He also said that pregnancy does not ruin your teeth/gums as people believe!

DP has some in the bathroom cupboard. It says its safe for use while pregnant and breastfeeding but there are so many side effects and contra-indications on the label (including "peeling of the skin inside the mouth" Shock ) I wouldn't use it at any time!

I've had bleeding gums throughout all my pregnancies and it stopped as soon as I gave birth so its not the same as gum disease. Its horrible to play to a pregnant woman's heightened fears.
