Gender and 20 week scan

Ok, before I get flamed - I know the 20 week scan is an anomaly scan and is there to check for medical conditions / complications and that is the primary purpose.

I have my 20 weeks scan in a few weeks, and my eldest child only who is a boy, a small part of my is tempted to find out what this baby is if they offer it to me at the scan.

I honestly hand over heart have no preference for the gender (previous loss so a healthy baby is all I want).

Only niggle is, I've said I wouldn't find out and it's only in last few days I've been tempted to find out. DH doesn't want to find out.

Maybe I should have the ultrasound technician write it down in an envelope for me? So if the temptation gets too much I can look but DH doesn't have to know?

Ahhhh....would you have been able to keep it a secret from DH if you knew and he didn't? xx

No I wouldn't have been able to keep it a secret. Like you I have a DS and my DH was adamant he didn't want to know. I wavered slightly but we didn't find out and now we're just having fun looking at the pictures and guessing!

I know at the hospital we had DS at they didn't offer to tell us the gender, we would have had to specially asked. As it was, we said don't!

We asked the sonographer to write down the gender as we were still dithering about whether to find out as we walked into the scan! But she said it was against hospital policy, and wouldn't expand on why. It's not against hospital policy to reveal gender per se (as I know it is in some places) so guess that their refusal is in case people waved the piece of paper back at them if the prediction turned out to be wrong?
