Please anyone who's had whooping cough vaccine let me know how it was. I'm terrified of injections but want to know truthfully what it's like and side effects so I can prepare myself!!!!!!

I had the vaccine about 5 days ago and the actual injection felt no different to any other injection. After effects were a small (10p size) hard red lump on my arm and it felt bruised for a couple of days after. Nothing major and well worth the protection the injection brings.

I had it. Very stiff arm for a few days ( go for your non dominant arm) but otherwise fine.

I had mine yesterday, my arm was a bit tender if i lay on that side but today it only hurts if i poke it. Was in with the nurse for no more than 2 minutes, was super quick and fairly painless. Try not to worry too much Smile

How many weeks do you get it?

Angelina77 · 09/04/2014 16:03

I'm having mine tomorrow, I hope it's as painless as the flu jab was.

It's recommended from 28 weeks, I think. I'll be 29+4.

I had mine at 28 + 2, it was fine, my arm was a bit sore for a day or two if I raised it up, but that was about it. Best time to have it is between 28 and 32 weeks, but I think it can be done up to 36 weeks.

Ok. Thanks. X

I barely felt it tbh, was easier than having bloods taken.
My arm was sore for a few days but that was it.
