Hi, I'm 16 weeks pregnant and have really itchy nipples and I feel like they have a burning sensation. Its really painful and they are sore to touch. Any advice on how to ease this?
Thanks :)

It's not easy but try not to touch them. A bit of cream helped me too - at least it stops them getting dry and sore. This might sound a bit strange but I find if they get really bad squeezing out a bit of colostrum seems to help too.

You should try breast massage- to get the blood flow going. Use coconut oil or olive oil:

  • The best massage technique is to first start pumping the lymph glands in your arm pits, this lymphatic massage will get the blood and toxins flowing.
  • Use a lotion while massaging (a natural lotion if you are breastfeeding) Olive oil is really good for this.
  • Gentle rubbing and/or squeezing is enough to get the blood flowing. Do not press too hard, you could damage your glandular tissue.
  • When you start to feel your breasts warming up, it’s a sign that your breasts have increased blood flow, which is very good.
  • These massages should be done daily.
  • You can massage your breasts every time you have a bath, and just use some soap for lubrication....this way you won't forget and you will be more relaxed.

I had this with dc1, had to use hydrocortisone on it, (prescribed by Dr)

Chica beat me to it. Coconut oil. I have stupidly itchy boobs and it's helping loads

Just cut them off. Not really! I keep getting vasospasms and it gives me the rage! Breast massage, hot showers and putting the heating on helps with that.

This is all really helpful! Thankyou all. Will definitely try these :)
