conception date

we had our scan yesterday and it sais 14 weeks today. that takes it back to 1st jan. thing is me and the mrs were not "together on that date exactly" we were on and off though throughout that period from a month before till after so when could the conception date be if the age of the baby is 14 weeks?

Sperm can live in the body for around 5 days so you don't actually have to have sex on the day of conception to have conceived on that day first of all.

Secondly I don't believe scans can really be that accurate as to date conception to the day.

Do you suspect your wife has been unfaithful?

14 weeks would use the standard pg dating method, based on last menstrual period.

So, given at 28 day cycle, with textbook mid cycle ovulation, she would be 2 weeks pg at moment of conception. So, given possible vagaries of biology, you'd be looking at an actual conception moment in late January or even early February.

Its difficult to know the exact date of conception. unless you know exactly when you ovulated, and even then you wouldn't know how long it took the egg to fertilise and then implant.

Also the scan dates are based on the size of the baby. the dates could change again at the 20 week scan depending how baby measures. its not an exact science.

nah nt unfaithful just we wanted to know where we coneived, coz she was botted out of her mums coz her mum a crackhead who beats her we wanted to be sure we conceived away from there for our son/daughter to know when she gets old where we "made her" lol if she ask when she a adult, plus her mum was giving her drugs when she was at hers, nt forcing her but after she left she stopped drugs so it wud be nicer to be completely clean in the dna. i checked the ovulation on a checker thing and our due date is 7th october based on the scan being 14 weeks 2day and it said conception between 10th and 18 th of jan so yeah fantastic! thankyou
