Does anyone else find it difficult to breathe at times. I am 29 weeks. I am only 5'2", not sure if that makes a difference.

Ive been feeling really out of breath for the last 2 weeks, im 5'6 but have been told by all doctors and midwives that im measuring bigger than i should, but as soon as i say i have asthma they put it down to that but i know it isnt but i have read that at around 28 weeks the baby starts pushing on your diaphram and that causes the shortness of breath. Hope that helps!

I had difficulty breathing to, its because babys was still relatively high up and pressing on your lungs restricting your breathing. I have asthma too and its definately nothing to do with that. Im 36 weeks now and for the last say 2 weeks big improvement. The lower the baby is the better your breathing.

i really hope it does improve because it can be really scary when you cant catch your breath dont you think?

thanks guys. Never had asthma, so not being able to breathe is a new experience to me. reassuring to hear that it's not jsut me. thought it was the ill effects of cutting back on exercise since I got preg!

Try getting on your hands and knees - frees up a bit of space. Also, I find sitting on a birthing ball and generally sitting up straight helps as well.

And I've found floating on my stomach helps, too (bath or pool) - doing it on back has the opposite effect. But the ball has had good results for me, too!

DP keeps finding me straddling kitchen chair leaning over... finds it hilarious.
