I'm driving myself mad with it. NOt really felt anything. One or two kicks but that's it.

Second child (so everyone says "oh you'll feel it much sooner) and I'm 19 weeks if you go from date of last period or 20 weeks if taken from 12 week scan size.

Really worrying myself stupid - scan not until next week.

katie - if you have a toddler to run after I bet you hardly have time to sit down now and feel anything! With my 2nd I was carryinging a few...ahem...excess pounds from no 1 so didnt feel it as soon as the first, when I was skinny as a rake

katierocket · 21/08/2006 07:45

Yes I know what you're saying but I do work part time so sitting at a desk for some days. Definitely have a few extra pounds that could be cushioning but am desperate to feel baby move so I can stop worrying so much.

with my first baby I felt it move at 20 wks. with 2nd and 3rd babies it was 21/22 wks. try not to worry... as kristinaM says I don't think you notice it the same when you are running around after a little one

LadyTophamHatt · 21/08/2006 07:52

Katie, there are a few of us on our jan thread feeling like you.

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and TBh i think I've been in denial about the movement I have felt. It wasn't until a few days ago when I felt it under my hand that I accepted that I have felt it.

I'm a little more chunky this time too because I'v had constant access to the car and have become so lazy it's embarrassing. I never walk anywhere now.
So, I think I have a extra layer of blubber that wouldn't have been there with the ds's and the kicks are insulated more than before. And of course I'm older now too...29 when I was PG with ds3, 33 now so those few yrs have got to make a differnece.
This baby is definatley alot less active than all 3 ds's regardless of my blubber though

Calista popped on to our Jan thread yesterday to mention the planenta too. If the planenta is on the outside wall of the uterus the baby has alot to kick through and her MW said that the baby need to be a lot stronger and older to make you feel the kick through it.

My scan is next week too, shall we count down the days, hours, minutes, seconds together?

Thanks everyone.

LTH, I did have a look at Jan 2007 thread but thought it would be worth posting a new thread to see if any other mumsnetters had experienced it. The placenta thing is interesting. I guess I have to try and relax and stop obsessing!

Can't wait until scan - what day is yours?

apparently you don't have to worry at all up to 24 weeks, then you should feel something

Twiglett · 21/08/2006 08:42

baby 1 felt at 23 weeks
baby 2 felt at 22 weeks

stop worrying

katierocket · 21/08/2006 08:50

Thank you

Hi Twig - glad to see you back.

It's wednesday next week katie.
When is yours?

Elibean · 21/08/2006 09:27

Had exactly the same experience with #2....didnt' really feel anything clear, IYKWIM, until about 20-21 weeks (was earlier with dd1). As it turns out, I have an anterior placenta - which acts as a sort of muffler! Now 24 weeks and getting nicely kicked

bogwobbit · 21/08/2006 09:29

katie,

I had an anterior placenta with my 4th baby and I don't remember feeling very much until I was about 22/23 weeks and even then it was pretty muffled.
However, by the time she got to about 30 weeks plus she really made up for it - I don't remember ever feeling such pain from a baby's kicks with any of my other three (ouch emoticon)
I'm sure that everything will be fine and that the scan will put your mind at rest.

katierocket · 21/08/2006 09:32

It's interesting about the anterior placenta, maybe that's it.

LTH - scan is next Tuesday. (eek)
