Hi there I'm nearly 39 weeks I've been getting period cramps on and off for over a week.

Today I've had cramping first thing but then all day been getting sharp niggling pains on my bump, my hips and lower pelvic area.

Like a feeling of some one pushing my hips in. I feel I'm getting some were like labour is approaching then it all stops.

Baby has been moving lots today like waves rather than jabs.

I'm so depressed feeling frustrated, no plug no waters just shooting sharp pains any body else get this :(

Sweet pea ... Sounds very much like your baby is on the way .. I've had no tightenings since waking up and I really need to stop reading horror birth stories ... Getting ready to go to my sisters in hope of stern chat to pull myself together .. Going to go for a walk as the sun is out ... Come on babies :) I reckon your baby will come before mine lol xx

Sweetpea86 · 08/04/2014 12:14

It's a waiting game and a very frustrating one at that lol I'm not the most patient of people.

Keep me posted hopefully won't have to wait much longer xx

No action here either [confusing] though I had reflexology this morning so who knows...

Had another false start the other evening but managed to pretty much ignore it and it did indeed come to nothing. Your signs do sound positive sweetpea but unfortunately nobody except these babies can tell us when they're coming!

40wk midwife appt today (not supposed to have one with second baby but midwife is a bit old school and doesn't like being told what to do). Hopefully all these pains are dilating us ladies and it won't be long!

Sweetpea86 · 08/04/2014 18:36

How did your appt go misty, all mine have gone too now just back ache but I don't no if that's just to do with being a hippo lol

Only thing that's progressed today are my cankles and feet which have swollen a little bit more :(

The joys of pregnancy lol

36 weeks here, and having period type pains, cramping and excruitiating stabbing pains in the night. This is baby no2, and I'm convinced he's going to be early! I daren't leave the house to go anyway too far away (that's not difficult, in agony with spd too!) The thought of another 3+ weeks is killing me!

At least you're 39weeks now - the end is in sight :D

Misty9 · 08/04/2014 19:16

Appt was pretty routine though the midwife reckons it can't be long with these false starts... I'm not holding my breath! Loads more discharge today and a bit more snotty too (sorry!) as well as usual uncomfortable bhs. Wish they'd bog off or turn into something real at least. Sciatica has spread to both legs now and I think baby is sitting on a nerve or something.

Reflexologist told me about lots of pressure points (but she also freely admits it's only likely to work if you're ready anyway) so I shall be employing dh's foot massage skills later Grin

Due tomorrow...

Misty9 · 08/04/2014 19:18

How are you feeling julie ? What have you got planned for tomorrow? I'm going with dh and ds to gym (to watch!) then I'll have ds the rest of the day while dh crams in as much work as he can so probably peppa pig marathon for us

juliec26 · 08/04/2014 19:23

Hi misty ... Well having never got to my due date before with my other 2 .. I sort of feel the need to celebrate It lol ... Maybe by having a baby he he .. Ds at nursery and dd just said she wants to go to work with her dad .. So looks like I'm home alone ... Have a sweep booked for 9am scared as never had one before .. Have u? X

Sweetpea86 · 08/04/2014 20:47

These lazy babies need to get a move on lol.

My midwife said I could have a sweep booked for my 40 weeks appt if nothing has happened is it painful.

I know that sounds pretty daft when I'm wanting labour to hurry and that's going to be painful.

At 40 weeks do they check if you are dilated ?

OP posts:
Misty9 · 08/04/2014 21:08

They'll be able to tell if you're dilated when they do the sweep. I had one with ds (can't remember when but must have been around 40wks) and it was painful - but I find all internals painful due to a 'tucked up' cervix. I remember the internal I had done during labour by the doctor (to check ds was in optimal position as he wasn't descending) was by far the most painful bit of the whole process! Shock but the sweep wasn't like that, don't worry.

I'm surprised they offered you a sweep with your third this early julie . My midwife didn't even mention it and dh already vetoed it . If you're home alone tomorrow there are a few things you could try to push things along... Blush dh is angling for a curry, but after horrible heartburn this evening I'm not sure I'm up for it.

Oh, also sweetpea I wouldn't want you to get your hopes up re dilation - you can be 2cm for ages before actual labour starts... It's more about effacement and length of cervix I think. Good luck!

juliec26 · 08/04/2014 21:40

Think she offered it to me as I have been having growth scans for large baby .. Last one at 36 weeks was estimated 6.11oz so said I'm not going overdue as the baby will be massive!! More me pushing for it .. Don't really want to go, but at least might get an indication on if this pains over last few days have done anything

Misty9 · 09/04/2014 07:16

Good luck this morning Julie. I'm still pregnant...

Emilycee · 09/04/2014 08:06

Morning ladies, I was 40 weeks on Friday wirh my first and nothing! A few twinges and cramps yesterday after some acupuncture but now nothing.. mw offered me a sweep for last Friday but I declined becauae I just don't like the idea!

Im 'allowed' to go 12 days over due date (planning for home birth) and feeling a bit twitchy as I just dread hospital!

Have tried, pineapple, sex, walking, gardening, housework... only thing that puts me off curry is.the carnage that it could cause whilst in labour!

Any don't get me started on the 'any news?' Brigade! Next time we will give a false date 2/3weeks later!

Sorry for ranting! Hope we are all cuddling our babies soon :-).

juliec26 · 09/04/2014 10:10

Morning ...after thinking it had all started last night .as was having what I thought were contractions turns out not even dilated .. I cried as sat up till 3am timing and in pain .. Had sweep cervix soft .. Mw was lovely and said go home have sex I know u don't feel like it but go for it .. :((( x

Misty9 · 09/04/2014 11:42

Oh julie :( sounds frustrating and demoralising. I kind of don't want to know re dilation for the same reason. Ds and I have a little game now where we bang the birth ball and shout "come on baby!" Grin
I'm being grumpy and unreasonable today, already bickered with dh who at least has work to distract him Angry so definitely not in the mood for sex!

emily welcome and commiserations that you're joining us :( how have you managed to distract yourself? Toddlers are at least good for that I suppose. I'm planning a home birth too and the pool is taunting me in the corner waiting to be blown up. I'm allowed to go 14 days over I think. Noooooo!

Just been to toddler gym session in a bid to bounce this baby out!

Emilycee · 09/04/2014 11:49

Hi Misty :-) I have given up today and have gone back to bed (while I still can! :-))

Over the last week I have done something every day, washed the car, hoovered, Ironing, ball, walks, shopping etc... have been meeting some nct friends who have almost all had their babies now (makes it worse that although my date was last nearly all were a week early and first babies!)

Have a mw appointment on Fri and can feel my 'no sweeps' resolve fading a bit... I just want something, anything to happen!

I need to borrow a toddler to take to the park and run around after! :-)

Emilycee · 09/04/2014 11:51

We put the pool up early so I have been getting in it and floating around to help my sore hips... I suppose we willhave got our moneys worth hiring it even if it doesnt happen here! :-)

Sweetpea86 · 09/04/2014 17:41

Sorry to hear we are still al in the same boat,

Just had a very spicy tea. I've been in pain walking all day and the nights are the worst for cramping I've still got a week till my due date. Walking is no fun feels like baby will fall out if only it was that simple.

I think I'm going to go overdue and just be stuck with these pains for weeks.

Currently the butt if my hubby's jokes he's just took a photo of my massive swollen feet and sent it to his mum laughing his head off lol

I'm sure one day I will see the funny side :p

Misty9 · 09/04/2014 18:24

emily you can have mine tomorrow - I've just spent the afternoon at the park with him and I'm cream crackered. Kinda hoping it's not tonight now as I've no energy! We did contemplate blowing the pool up today as I'm worried the pump will wake ds up if we have to do it in the middle of the night. But there's nowhere to really put it so will have to chance that.

I have a rearranged hair appt on Friday, so Sod's law she'll show up before then Grin

sweetpea get your dh to massage your feet - that'll shut him up :)

Bloody sciatica is doing my head in currently - as is the peeing every five minutes. The park toilets were out of order so we had to come home as I was desperate; what came out? A trickle. Angry should have just peed myself! Early night for me I reckon.

Misty9 · 10/04/2014 17:07

Ooh julie you've gone all quiet ;) has it happened?! Nothing doing here and the annoying text messages/calls have started Angry
Like I wouldn't tell my own family!

Seriously fed up with being humongous, having heartburn, peeing every five seconds and STUPID Braxton hicks! Luckily the toddler is keeping me occupied - if a little knackered. I'll be too tired to give birth at this rate!

Sweetpea86 · 10/04/2014 19:45

I thought the same misty fingers crossed it's looking for promising for Julie. I started cleaning the house out at 7 this morning lol like a mad women, burnt out by dinner time, hubby has been taking orders to tidy garden still no signs of labour just in crippling agony with SPD but on the plus house is spotless lol
