Feeling movement 2nd time around

I'm now 18 weeks and still no definite movements. A few possibilities but I think its just wind. With ds1 I felt movement around now. Since him I've had 3 mc including one at 17 weeks so I'm incredibly nervous this time around. Consultant checked last week and everything looked fine. She said its normal up to 24 weeks not to feel movements. This time I have a layer of tummy fat, I wonder if that could be stopping me feeling movement. Anyone else not felt movements until later with number 2?

It can be the position of the placenta too. I don't think 18 weeks is that late for a subsequent pregnancy. Mine all differed tbh.

I'm almost 18 weeks with my second too, fairly certain I'd felt movements by this point 1st time around, but this time I'm doubtful I've felt anything other than wind! This is despite 'hearing' movements when heartbeat was found on Thursday.
I think RandomMess is right about position of placenta having an effect.
I guess every pregnancy can be different & with a little one already you're possibly spending less time stationary to be able to notice small movements?

Didn't feel DC2 until about 21 weeks, a few tingles but nothing that was definite, I thought I'd feel sooner but it was past the anomaly scan until I got those definite movements.

I'm not with it tonight, I'm actually almost 17 weeks, not 18.

Felt one definite movement at 18 weeks with this one (DC2) but was feeling stuff from 16 weeks with DC1. I was worried as I had an anterior placenta first time. Turns out I have one this time too. I'm 32 weeks now and getting movement all the time... Although I often don't notice it unless I have my hand on my bump.

Totally understand the worry as I too have had a MMC but honestly, this stuff about feeling the movement earlier with DC2 isn't universally true. I didn't feel anything regularly until about 22 weeks. Try not to stress.

thanks, its good to know that it's not always earlier second time. I know my placenta is at the back so haven't been able to use that reason. 20 week scan is not going to come soon enough! Smile

I felt DC1 when I was about 16 weeks and DH could feel him kicking at 20 weeks but it's only the last week or so that I've properly been able to feel DC2 (coming up to 22 weeks) and DH can't feel anything at all yet.

Looking at DC1 running round and causing mayhem, I'm hoping that this one is simply less active in general Wink
