Are there any negatives/downsides to using a TENS machine during labour?

I'm thinking I may make use of a TENS machine during labour but will only do so if there is 100% no negative effect on either me or the baby - does anyone know? Thank you!

The only negative is that you can't get wet whilst wearing it, so you can't use it in a pool or shower.

What MadamGinger said.

But I'd say just be careful about the "100% no negative effect" attitude if you are applying it to other things in labour. Obviously, things like tens, or aromatherapy, or massage or whatever are 100% optional and you can apply as strict a threshold as you like for them being acceptable to you. But there are a lot of shades of grey around other labour decisions and in those areas that approach could make you feel very stressed and/or guilty if things don't go to plan. Smile
