Booking appointment advice

I'm new so sorry if this has been covered somewhere and I can't find it.. When/how do you get your booking appointment?

I was told to make a GP appointment at 8 weeks which I did. GP booked my 12 week scan and gave me some blood forms to take to the hospital and said that was the last time she'd see me and the hospital would be in touch about the booknig appointment.

When I went to the hospital for the blood tests (just to a blood clinic: turn up and take a ticket and give them the forms) they said to make an appointment with my GP in a week to discuss the results.

So I'm a bit confused! Should I go back to the GP or try to self-refer to the midwives for a booking appointment, or just wait for the scan (in two weeks) and ask someone then?

I'm in North East London at the Homerton if that helps.

It works differently in different trusts, sadly. For me I saw my GP, and he referred me for my scan and for my booing in with the midwives. I had letters come through much later with the dates for each. I suggest you call the general contact number for the hospital you chose, then ask to be put through to the antenatal clinic or community midwives. It could be that you need to self refer.

According to the NICE guidelines you should have a booking in appt by 12 weeks, I think, unless you didn't now you were pregnant until later.

It's definitely worth phoning up to make sure they hadn't forgotten. It turned out my hospital were pretty disorganised. Some also don't let you have the scan prior to a booking appointment...
