Hot Baths, Old wives tale or truth?

Help my pregnancy hormones have kicked in I am starting to worry about things people have said regarding mc's in the early stages.
My top paranoid thoughts are- Is it risky to have hot baths?, I usually do, and is it bad to wear jeans which are tight? also I tend to sit with my knees bunched up while I watch TV is that a danger? Sometimes I get stomach pains after doing this and it makes me worry I have harmed the baby.
I know all that sounds like something you hear in a school P.E changing room, but I have heard adults saying it honest!

The hot bath thing is for real. Not sure about the jeans - I've always avoided tight ones b/c I tend to get a yeast infection from them. Maybe that's the reason?

Jabberwocky, thanks for letting me know about the hot bath thing I was worried about that! I have been wearing loose waist trousers too as I find my belts act as the enemy when I sit down.

It's just over-hot baths that you should avoid; you can still have a hot bath, just not one that's scalding.

Can't see the jeans being a problem (apart from being uncomfortable).

Sitting with your knees bunched up underneath you will be tutted at in later pregnancy, but more for your benefit than the baby's.

I know the saying about hot baths, but I have always had hot baths life long habit. I was worried when I found out I was pregnant but then GP said if thats all I done then baby would adapt, however try not to make them too hot. Tell the truth I dont know wjhats too hot? my partner cant bath in the temperature of water I bath in. Im 36 weeks now and babys fine. My mum said she was a hot bath person aswell even during pregnancy think it runs in the family.

I love my baths too, and I also like them scalding. I'd heard that over-hot baths weren't recommended in pregnancy, so I asked my midwife when I was pregnant. She said that generally it's not advised because of the possible (although not proven) effects that the hot water could have on the blood flow through the placenta, rather than the fact that you could overheat the baby. It's also possible that if the water is too hot it could make you feel faint or pass out as it can lower your blood pressure very quickly.

Yes faintness can be a prob sometimes, I am dizzy all the time anyway. My bath temp has been creeping back up. Redz It was the same for my mum too, must be a family thing.
