Hi

I am really hoping someone can help. At my 6 week scan I had twins - by 7 w 3days, one had perished. The other had grown (was 1cm), had a sac and fetel pole, but no visible heartbeat. I am due back next Tuesday to see if anything further has happened. I know that no heartbeat is not a good sign at this point, but I was wondering if any of you had experienced this, and gone on to have a healthy baby ? My symptoms seem to be calming down a bit too, and all in all I am feeling heartbroken.

I am / was pregnant through IVF, so no question about my dates, sadly.

Can anyone help ? Thank you

Oh i dont know RR but .

I hope it works out. There is a chance it may just be too early to see the heartbeat yet, but I suspect that the person conducting the scan would have told you this.

Fingers crossed for you.

hi rr

i went for a scan as i was bleeding,i was 12 weeks.i was told that i had been carrying twins but one had died.i was so distraught and thought i would lose teh other.

i had quite a bad pregnancy (have had with all 5 of mine) but baby was ok.she grew normally and was born 2 weeks early.

i hope everything goes ok for you at your next scan, and try not to worry too much.

xx

oh RR...nothing helpful to add, just wanted to offer you support.

Isn't it a good sign that they could see the sac? I was told it was at my 9 week scan. Was it an internal scan? Otherwise it would be very difficult to see a heartbeat this early.

I really really hope that you come back to us with some good news. Take care of yourself. There are always plenty of lovely people here if you need to talk.

I had a no heartbeat scan at 8 weeks with low hormones and told to go back a week later but to prepare myself for the worst. 1 week later strong heartbeat and now have a beautiful dd. Had 3 problematic pg's and 2 mc.

With DD1 they didn?t see her heartbeat only the fetal sac and pole. Went back following week convinced of the worst and they picked up a strong little heart beat. As impossibly hard as it is, only time will gibe you an answer. I don?t know the statistics on this but I do know from experience that it is not without a hope just yet xx

Good luck RR2006 xx

RR, just to add....having been part of a big IVF community over the years of conceiving my dds, I've learnt that twins - regardless of whether only one has got this far or not - are often a couple of days 'behind' at this stage, so heartbeats can take a little longer to show up than the average singleton.
Wishing you loads of luck on Tuesday, xxx
