9 months in all but had a very early miscarriage in that time as well.

Was still very scary coming off the pill after years on it.

nutcracker · 16/03/2004 16:50

Erm 2 months i think.

After having the pill injection though it was about 7 mths.

CountessDracula · 16/03/2004 16:50

3 years

aloha · 16/03/2004 16:52

3 months - at age 38. Friends have conceived after missing just one pill though! You can get pg instantly.

miranda2 · 16/03/2004 16:52

I'm wondering the same at the moment. Last time I stopped the pill 3 months before trying to conceive, and conceived the first month of not using condoms. But my sister, whos training to be a midwife, has told me not to bother with the 3 pill-free months this time - she said many women have a fertility leap immediately after coming off, so you waste that, and that the only reason for waiting is so doctors can date your pregnancy more accurately. What do people think?

Helsbels · 16/03/2004 16:54

1st one about 3 weeks (at 33) this time about 6 months (at 35) - you've made your mind up then?

charlieplus3 · 16/03/2004 16:55

6 mths first time, was on mini pill and although didnt go back on pill for the second it Still took 5 months

beansprout · 16/03/2004 16:57

I read about the fertility leap too, but it also said that the lining of the uterus needs to "settle down" and so there may be an increased chance of m/c if you conceive in the first month.

My own experience was the same as Miranda2's. I had the "you have to let your body adjust" thing instilled in me from somewhere (no idea where though!)

madgirl · 16/03/2004 17:23

2 weeks!

Zerub · 16/03/2004 17:23

9 months - of which it took about 6 months to start ovulating fairly regularly.

Miranda - I found this about waiting after coming off the pill

fio2 · 16/03/2004 17:26

have never took it

littlerach · 16/03/2004 18:44

Within the first month.

AussieSim · 16/03/2004 18:48

21mths

Clayhead · 16/03/2004 18:52

6 months

ja9 · 16/03/2004 19:57

2 months

wishingchair · 17/03/2004 09:51

Hmm - thanks everyone. No pattern at all then! With DD, I stopped taking it about 6 months before we started officially ttc, then it took another 3 months.

Helsbels - yes think I have made up my mind! Thx again!

First time 2 months.

Second time 2 weeks (am currently 31 weeks pregnant after having sex once)

BIBIBOO · 27/04/2004 11:59

I conceived the first month I came off the pill, so either I'm super fertile or it was meant to be! Good luck

sponge · 29/04/2004 15:42

4 years, and then 4 years again for the second one despite having taken no precautions at all in between - other than not having sex for about the first 6 months
I guess some people are just more fertile than others. But what it does tell you is it's no use to plan it.

Lisa78 · 29/04/2004 15:44

Came off the pill at C'mas, then used condoms till mid Feb. DS2 born early November...
so, not very long at all!

EvanMom · 29/04/2004 16:00

ds1 took 7 months to conceive after stopping the minipill (I took the minipill for 10 years). I had a very early miscarriage in month one which backs up what beansprout was saying. We abstained from sex for a while after ds1 birth. The first time we did it again after ds1, ds2 was conceived!!

SpringChicken · 29/04/2004 17:18

Came off pill November 2002 and feel pregnant October 2003 so nearly a year

PotPourri · 30/04/2004 18:27

I came off the pill at the end of January and got pregnant straight away. Kind of glad I was sooo careful all those years previously!

Hulababy · 30/04/2004 18:31

Took us about 14-15 months

KristinaM · 03/05/2004 05:09

Took us one month both times. Never took the pill though - used condoms.
