Hi gang

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and just been discharged (last weekend) from antenatal ward due to unexplained facial pain (whole other thread).

Saw midwife on weds and everything was fine but protein in urine was at +1. She said nothing to worry about.

Weds night I came out with a hideous cold: shivering, temperature, headache, evil sore throat. I and DH had sex that night before my symptoms came out and I was feeling a bit uncomfortable afterwards bladder-wise.

Feel so vile today. Achy, fluy and bladder really hurts. My urine isn't cloudy or smelly though.

DH is away on work and I can't face ringing triage, the doctor or any of it. I just want to stay in bed and ignore everyone.

However I'm aware it's Friday and normal medical help will be unavailable over the weekend.

Should I ring triage, midwife, GP or do what I really want to do which is take painkillers and ignore?

TIA

If I were you I'd take some paracetamol, ring triage and see what they say. If you're not happy with the response, call your midwife, and then try your GP! It sounds as though you may need antibiotics though, so I'd crack on. I sympathise - UTIs are just awful, especially when you're pregnant.

Just in case you don't already know, also drink plenty of water, seems to help. You may well need those antibiotics though if it's bad enough to cause fever etc

I'm 30+1 and have just come off my 6th lot of antibiotics for uti's over the course of this pregnancy, so I totally sympathise. Ring triage, they will talk you through symptoms and 90% of the time will just give you advice on how to home treat.
Make sure your intake of water is stupidly high. I'm talking gallons, not glasses. It'll really help flush it all out. Wheat bags are good for helping with that sore feeling and I found leaning over my gym ball and rocking forwards and backwards helped when it all started to become really painful. Uti's are something we just have to deal with and unfortunately if you're probe to them, expect them to visit more than once.

Feel better!

Please see the do too. I ignored a UTI once and wound up in hospital for a week with a severe kidney infection.

The doctor, not the do too!

Ive suffered with mine all my life. Long story lol but from your symptoms you really shoulnd ignore them. You clearly have a fever and theres something wrong. Your water isnt always smelly or cloudy when you have a uti, and kidney infections dont always show up in your water. When i had septicemia and severe kidney infections, my water was always clear. But i was in a hell of alot of pain in my side and back and couldnt stop shaking and my body was killing me like mad.f you dont want to do for yourself do it foryour baby! As you could end up making things worse x
