Can't wait to start shopping!!!

When did you leave it to start shopping I literally have to just look straight past baby things or I will go all gooey (obviously my first!) I'm only 7+2 weeks and already impatient! x

I bought my first pack of baby grows after my 12 week scan. We waited a bit longer to purchase our cotbed and pushchair. Think we ordered those after our 20 week scan.

This is my first baby too but im trying to restrain myself. Been buying odds and sods like baby wipes, teething gel, nappies etc with our normal weekly shop so we have a stock pile for when we have less household income.

I didn't buy anything at all til after 12 week scan, but also we were finding sex if baby out at 20 weeks so left most til then!!! Now I'm 29 weeks and you can't move in the baby's room for his stuff!!!!!!

Everything just feels so far away and moves so slow! I guess it's only another month to wait till scan :( what are you both having? X

I know how you feel snook. Somehow my brain tells me if I buy stuff it means its real. I did wait til after the 12 week scan though as I was worried something would happen.

I needed to buy clothes for me before then though and pregnancy books which satisfied the urge a bit.
Pregnancy is such a long wait though that it is worth spreading it out as much as possible if you enjoy shopping as you will want something to keep you occupied in the last trimester.

The urge never leaves. Im expecting our second dc and at 8.5 am itching to buy.

dont even have anything really needed except hospital bag stuff.

Yea I want to make sure everything is ok first have you had your first scan yet gunwalloe? Are the books actually helpful and do you have any recommendations? X

Congratulations!!! Have you thought of Amy names? God yes I'm impatient to start shopping let alone the sex! Lol and I think it gives you a little bit more control knowing if that makes sense? X

I bought 2 books: the queen charlottes hospital guide to pregnancy and childbirth and the rough guide to pregnancy and birth. O e is more factual whilst the other contains facts but is more lighthearted and chatty. Tbf they both cover the same facts but having a new section to read each week makes me feel like I'm moving forward and having 2 books is double the fun
I do have a tendency to get obsessed with things though and the books (and apps) are a good way of managing this.
This is my 3rd btw and the excitement hasn't faded. Luckily we've had a large gap and didn't think we would have any more so have to start from scratch with baby stuff.

Fortunatley for us we havent really got to get much, as a load of suprises turned up this week from my long distant family friends in blackpool! All weve soent so far is £60 on a silver cross travel system lol just got main eesentials and a bouncer to get now thas it lol im due in july, and were leaving those bits till about a month before xx

I bought her first outfit at 5 weeks then went crazy at 16 weeks when we had a gender scan!

She's now 12 months old and there are already 5 bin liners of outgrown clothes in the loft.

You'll find people will buy you packs of vests/babygrows, we had loads, some only worn a couple of times and now she only has 5 that I rotate, it's all she needs. The long sleeve ones are a pain as they ruckle up when you're trying to put a long sleeved top on over them and don't bother with shoes (even though they are ridiculously cute), I was given 4 pairs by someone who had bought 14, yes 14, for her pfb and never worn. They just don't stay on, as soon as they wriggle their legs they come off.
Even at 12 months she doesn't need them yet.

Ooh never needed to use the muslin squares either, I know some women swear by them and I used to put one in the changing bag because I thought I should and it was never used, I mopped up any spills with a wet wipe and there are 3 unopened packs in the loft with her clothes.

I have my 20wk scan in a week and we decided we wouldn't buy anything until after that (plus we'll be finding out the gender so will make it easier). I've bought baby books though and done LOADS of research online as well as try out buggies in John Lewis. I've quite enjoyed researching everything and hopefully means we make good choices when it comes to spending!

I can see why waiting till 20 weeks would totally make sense but don't think I could wait that long! I will deffo have a look at them especially if it keeps me distracted from shopping! (Will prob just scare me to death!) hahahaa! Gosh 14 pairs I hope I'm not that bad surely that's more of an addiction!!! I think I may just leave the shows unless it's a special occasion surely they only last a few weeks till they grow again I wish they could just stay small forever :( x

We bought a pack of white baby grows just before our 12 wk scan so we could write 'baby Xmas' on it for our announcement to family. Then I bought something every now and then, like a changing bag at about 15 weeks, we were given some stuff as presents at Christmas at 17 weeks, then bought a load of baby clothes in the after Christmas sales at 20 weeks, then bought the stuff for the nursery at 25 weeks, got a mamaroo and breast pump on offer at 28 weeks, then just bought the pram this week at 29 weeks.

I probably could have spaced it out even more, but since hitting 20 weeks I've just wanted to get absolutely everything NOW and it was hard enough waiting to get the pram until now.

I've booked a visibility scan in next weekend that will put me at 8+4 so think it may make it a bit more real rather than just a theory which is what I feels like now! So by the sounds of this thread it's gently gently then you hit 20 weeks and go mad! Lol that's a great idea I bet your family loved that! Christmas pregnancies must be the best! X

I bought nothing until after 20 week scan, now 35+3 and still haven't got everything!

I bought a gorgeous hat when I was 6 weeks, couldn't resist. Then I slowly started buying bits and pieces from 12 weeks.

I havent brought one thing yet and i'm 16 weeks. I'm really surprised at myself as im such a shopaholic (brought loads of clothes for me - not maternity yet though). Think it maybe because I havent really got a bump yet so it doesn't feel very real still. Even at scan and midwife appointment where i heard the heartbeat it still felt a bit surreal.

I have just been to Baby Gap to buy a present for a friend who has a week old baby and last month brought tonnes for my new niece... hoping it will all be given back to me in 6 months time he he

One thing to think about is nursery stuff. In our house I'm the one who does all the DIY and who puts together furniture. h is pretty useless . Because of this we did the furniture buying before I got a big bump or any potential back pain. Otherwise it would have meant waiting until baby was born and I felt up to it. I know the nursery isn't essential right away, but I don't want to have to do anything other than look after her once she's here.

But I would also say that you should buy whatever you want to whenever you want to. Everyone has their reasons for waiting or not waiting, but if your only reason for wait is just a vague "other people wait, so I should wait" then I'd say don't bother. Do what feels right for you
