had bloods taken last week & dr not happy with results. been referred for a liver & a gallstone scan as well as being prescribed iron tablets. just wondering though the dosage is one a day of 305mg. anywhere I've read online says during pregnancy you need 27mg a day

The iron tablets aren't a terribly efficient way of getting iron into the blood but they are the easy way. You won't absorb much of the 300mg. Perhaps 10%.

Somewhere on the package it will tell you what the effective dose is, but you have been given the right dose!
