For pregnant berries at any stage. Scary thought but this is the one where some babies will appear!

sid this is fantastic news re scan! Ace!
As for gender- like the others say you'll be fine with a bit of time. I didn't find out as i could imagine it being a bit strange knowing ahead of time. I was fully expecting a boy tho and even tho I would have loved a girl, I knew it was unlikely for us based on DHs family. And despite this I had got my head round a lovely little boy and all the fun we would have together. Cue surprise with our arrival! Once your baby's here all the thinking goes straight out the window and it's all just love :-) don't beat yourself up about it- all feelings are valid, you just have to give yourself time

Come on tally... Hope she's got her priorities right and will be posting on here as soon as she's out...

BlindKitty · 07/04/2014 20:30

Pfft anyone would think she's too busy starring into the eyes of her new little girl ;-)

Bunnygirlie · 07/04/2014 20:47

sid there is another thread on here about how you are feeling! think a lot of mums2b go through the same x

Tally we are waiting Wink

Tallyra · 07/04/2014 21:08

I have a daughter! Imogen is now 3 hours old :-) she is 6lb 14 and fast asleep on my boob. Grin

CharmingCats · 07/04/2014 21:10

Evening! Just gearing up for obem and tally!

sid. Really pleased about the scan and impressed that they were able to give you the gender at this stage. I felt the same when we found out it was a boy. I had always thought it would be a boy, but to have the news definitely felt different. I'm actually glad it's a boy as then my parents won't say stupid things like, 'it's like having you all over again' or 'she's just like you were'. He can be a separate person. And my favourites in my class are always boys! Not that I have favourites...

Thanks for the chat on buggies and cots. Been looking a lot, but resolved to go to a couple of nct sales first and not buy anything until I go on mat leave. Why are breast pumps so expensive?? It's one thing I don't fancy buying second hand......will hold off any event, as I may not need it or be able to use it.

bunny. I too am a wind machine with little interest in dtd. DH v understanding of both, poor thing. Getting a bit concerned at my own lack of libido, I must say. Hoping it will return soon.

Should I be worried that my bump is still quite small at 23 weeks? You can't tell it's there.

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/04/2014 21:15

Whoop congratulations Tally, Mr Tally and Imogen! Hope you are ok Tally. Welcome to being a mum

tally amazing news!!! Can't wait for pics! Oh and love the name! It's in my top 3 actually so hopefully I won't pinch it! Grin

charming seriously, there are some BARGAINS!! I went to quite an affluent area though so maybe the quality is better depending on where you go. I think I'm actually having my friend's breast pump. Don't feel weird taking hers but I would if I didn't know the person.
Re bump, you've only just had your 20 week scan so surely they would have said then if he was small? says the girl who constantly compares her bump to everyone else and listens when idiots tell her she's small even though she knows she's not

PuppyMummy · 08/04/2014 06:43

congratulations tally lovely news! Thanks

Brodicea · 08/04/2014 09:12

Aw lovely news tally!

One of my closest friends also had her baby yesterday too - feels like a bumper crop at the mo!

Boomgoestheweasel · 08/04/2014 09:48

Not long for you either now brod! And where's Poppy....? Babies babies babies!

Tally hope you had a good first night and you're enjoying every second Grin x

PoppySeedBun · 08/04/2014 10:05

Congratulations, tally! Great to hear it all went well, and Imogen is here safe and sound.

Me and you up next boom (and katatonic too). No sign of action here, though, and I'm not due until the 23rd, so probably a little while to wait yet. My little one is head down and engaged, so hopefully all will happen naturally. Just trying to be patient now, which is getting harder now I look like I have a beach-ball up my jumper!

Re: small bumps, I don't think there's anything much to worry about - everyone shows differently, and so much of mine has appeared in the last 5-6 weeks. In fact, in a highly uncharacteristic move, I've been weighing myself all the way through (I didn't even own bathroom scales before getting PG) and I've put on 3 kg in the last month and probably only a kilo of that is icecream. Shock

Did so little yesterday that I made myself feel quite down. So with the sun out today, I'm going to see if I can plant some sweet pea plants out. Not sure what position I'm going to need just to reach the ground, but it could get interesting! Just hope the neighbours aren't watching...

Brodicea · 08/04/2014 13:42

It is hard isn't it poppy getting that balance between keeping busy and active and just getting darned uncomfortable! I have this nagging feeling I should be doing more, but even making lunch wears me out. As lucky as I feel to be pregnant I do look forward to being more mobile and active, even if as everyone warns I'll be sleep deprived!

CatsCantFlyFast · 08/04/2014 16:05

Brod, sleep or no sleep I feel much better now I'm no longer pregnant. I really appreciate being able to bend down and walk somewhere without feeling like I'm going to die Grin

Thanks for the words of wisdom about small bumps. Went to the dentist yesterday, last visit in December. He asked me what I'd had and I had to tell him that I was still pg! Charming baby measurements were all slap bang in the middle of the normal range, so no concerns at the scan. And midwives last week said it was good that I was still slim, but there's still a niggle. Also mat clothes are too big and normal clothes too small, so nothing is flattering at all!

An old school friend is an anaesthetist and her mum is a consultant obstetrician. They've said that I can go round and chat to them about things. I'd like to, as they are lovely, but I'm worried it might freak me out. They're very medical, obviously and little bit anti-midwives (sorry boom). I hated the room on the labour ward we had to wait in last week. What do you think? Would you go and listen, in the interest of having as much info as possible, or go with your gut that says birthing centre?!

Boomgoestheweasel · 08/04/2014 18:11

That bump will pop out Charming, I was worried mine wasn't very big to begin with and then suddenly there it was! As long as your scan was all ok I wouldn't worry at all, people carry very differently especially early on.

I don't see why you shouldn't get opinions from all quarters - if they're friends then it'll be a nice informal chat, as long as you remember that of course they're coming at it from a medical point of view. Some doctors can be really good about exploring low risk options too though (if the obs consultant is a bit older then maybe not!) Most docs are slightly anti-midwife, they think we're all Birkenstock-wearing hairy-armpitted hippies I think..but then most midwives are pretty anti-intervention so fair's fair! We come at it from different philosophies. There's much more integration between the newer generation of midwives and doctors than there was in the past. Anyway I'm waffling, I say go and have the chat but don't let yourself be browbeaten!

CatsCantFlyFast · 08/04/2014 20:00

Charming you can always start in the birth centre and transfer to the delivery suite but I think its much harder to do it the other way round...
