Bouncing on birth ball- does it work??

Bouncing like a mad woman to induce labour. Anyone got any success stories to keep me going!!

I didn't go into labour but I ended up taking a trip to the hospital after having a good bounce a couple of weeks ago. turns out bay had its head well and truly engaged. still at 38+3 weeks and waiting but it all helps Grin

I've been sitting and bouncing each evening but I find it uncomfortable on my pelvis and hips after 10 mins or so. My baby is breech and hoping it might encourage him to turn. No luck so far! Can't hurt (unless I fall off).

Fortunately his head is right down.

Inglorious- try pelvic rocks from side to side 20mins each way. Then circle your pelvis 10mins in one direction then 10 mins the other way. Admittedly you will get an aching pelvis but it encourage baby down. Ive been doing it every day for fear of him doing a last minute turn! Good luck

No. And having watched my antenatal class teacher 'demonstrate' the technique, and fly off the back of the ball with her legs in the air, knocking over the whiteboard with her head, it rather put us all off having a go...

I bounce on mine (37+5) but only because it relieves my backache Smile

Not been there yet but a friend swears by it and has used it with her last 3 DD's.
Didn't help speed things along but helped with the discomfort of her aching pelvis and back.
Rocking back and forth or in little circles helped keep her sane in the last few weeks x

Ah, Hannah. That wasn't the worst of it - you should have seen her demonstrate the TENS machine... She blithely switched it on, visibly leapt about six inches and yelped, and then yanked it off, muttering about remembering to turn it down first. She then said, 'so, who wants a try?' still with the 'freshly electrocuted' alarm in her eyes, trying desperately to adopt a 'trust me' hopeful smile.

It never helped get labour going here...... But bouncing once baby with baby in arms after she arrived was the only way to get her to sleep in the first few weeks.

I specifically advise bare feet or shoes with good grip depending in the floor material to make sure you don't fly off the ball.... Or leaning onto a table on it ( such as when you are on the computer)....

Did nothing for me on DD1 or 2. I just find it nice for my back to sit on sometimes...
