Really i heard it was just like another needle? I have mine on Monday x

snoggle · 12/03/2014 07:30

I've had it lots of times. It's fine- yes it's a big needle as it has to go in your arse. But not that painful, just a jab

sillymillyb · 12/03/2014 07:31

I had 3 anti d injections in the end, I honestly can't remember them being any different from any others!

I had one in my bum, two in my arms. There was a slight sting but nothing bad. And I'm a wuss!

You will be fine, don't listen to the horror stories!

StillaChocoholic · 12/03/2014 07:31

Mine was in my arm. Didn't really look at the needle but barely felt a thing. It's just like any other injection or was for me anyway.

LittleLight82 · 12/03/2014 08:02

Had mine in my arm and it was fine. I'd heard stories of giant needles too and was slightly terrified but wondered what all the fuss was about after!

Amiasmummy · 12/03/2014 08:14

It's just like any other injection, you'll be fine! Steroid injections are the nasty ones IME

StarsInTheNightSky · 12/03/2014 08:17

I've had quite a few anti-D injections now (complicated pregnancy) and they've all been absolutely fine.
Had them all in my upper arm/shoulder, and other than a very slight sting with the most recent one (like being stung by a nettle, but sting goes away within a minute) I've never felt anything. The needle has never looked abnormally large to me, looks like any other vaccination-type needle, I'm not bothered by needles though. Good luck, you'll be fine Smile

DrankSangriaInThePark · 12/03/2014 08:17

I had both in my bum. Didn't notice size of needle to be honest!

thecakeisalie · 12/03/2014 08:50

I don't look when they put the needle in but pretty sure it was just a normal size needle. I had it in my leg and it did sting more than I was expecting but nothing major. I had it in my arm or shoulder in previous pregnancies and barely remember them.

Wolfiefan · 12/03/2014 08:55

Arm here too. No different from any injection.

ThePowerOfCake · 12/03/2014 09:05

Mine was in my arm. I had the flu jab in the other arm the day before, plus blood tests on the day as well. The anti-D hurt slightly more going in than the others, but far less after the event.

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 12/03/2014 10:05

Had it in my arm; no pain at all - my arm felt a bit stiff afterwards but went away really quickly. They got me to cough when they injected it, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Hurt less than either the flu or the whooping cough jabs, and no nasty side effects from the AntiD either!

Diamondsareagirls · 12/03/2014 10:31

I had one after a fall and one at 28 weeks, both in my arm. The midwife did say at the time that the 28 week injection was a bit bigger but I can honestly say I didn't notice the difference. Didn't hurt more than usual. The whooping cough was more painful afterwards!

Nades84 · 12/03/2014 11:32

I was a bit nervous having mine after the horror stories I'd heard and even the midwife told me it would hurt before she did it! BUT I didn't feel a thing! Had it in my arm and it didn't sting or anything. The whooping cough one I had the day after hurt more! x

SweetPea86 · 12/03/2014 11:55

I had my anti D was the least painful injection I've ever had felt like a ting scratch no red arm afterwards or pain.

The whopping cough one on the other hand hurt a little but for a week I could lay on my arm and was a big burning red lump on my arm.

Anti d was a piece of cake

Mogz · 12/03/2014 12:01

Had mine in the top of my thigh, barely noticed it and I am a wuss! No bruising afterwards either. You'll be fine.

Bankholidaybaby · 12/03/2014 12:06

I had two - one in each thigh. It was fine both times.

PuppyMummy · 12/03/2014 17:46

I had mine yesterday. they were taking blood too so she did the anti d into the vein after gettin the blood rather than a separate injection.

it was fine, literally didnt feel anything other than the tiny scratch to get the needle bit in. I was v impressed!

thereisnoeleventeen · 12/03/2014 21:08

Good luck OP, it will be fine, I usually try and day dream while they are doing it so I am relaxed, that way I notice it less. Last pregnancies it was 2 injections, this time it's just once which is better.
