CO levels

I went to my booking appointment yesterday and left really worried. They did a CO breath test on me and it read '9' complete with red flashing warning lights. They said not worry, that it can be the machine and got me to repeat - this time I got a reading of '12'!

They said it was really odd as I am a non smoker and to get my boiler checked. We've done that and it's all fine. The bit that worries me is that the midwife said that my levels are that of a smoker and when I asked what the implications are for my baby she just said that it was all fine. Surely if it was fine, they wouldn't be trying to get pregnant, smoking mothers to stop! There were posters everywhere saying that smoking deprives babies of oxygen.

So two questions really- anyone got an idea why my levels are so high? And what is this doing to my baby?

My work colleague sat next to someone should smoked and it picked up in thst.i have also read that if you commute, use public transport it can affect a reading aswell. Hope that's a little helpful x

Can you get your levels checked on another machine? If you're a non-smoker, and not being exposed to CO any other way, surely a dodgy machine is the next most likely explanation?

I was tested on two different machines! The second reading was worse.

I did walk along two busy london roads so maybe that was it. What worries me more is what it's doing to my baby! There are good reasons why they ask women to stop smoking!
