Im really struggling to buy jeans. I'm fed up of ordering two sizes only to find I need one smaller. They look great when they arrive then I try them on and they look terrible. I'm fed up of the returns and I'm not getting anywhere.

Whats your preference, under/over bump? I seam to hate both I like the ones with elastic in the pockets but they are hard to come by...

If I see some I think i'll order- they are out of stock! arrghh

Tell me how yours fit and if your sized up or down etc.

I bought some Next skinny under bump jeans in the sale (they still have some left) which come halfway over my bump as opposed to under my bump which are comfortable but the legs go a bit baggy after wearing for a while (but they were £10 so I'm not complaining)

I have new look under bump skinnies (not that skinny, but slim cut at least).

I found last time that the elastic sides seemed good initially, but actually fit for a very short window.

Under bump, lived in them for months after pregnancy last time and no doubt will do the same this time round!

I don't like the feel of over bump ones.

Twizzletoes · 06/03/2014 18:24

Jojo for me, i haven't a hope in hell of getting into skinny jeans and their jeans are perfect for me.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 06/03/2014 18:49

Topshop Leigh jeans for me (under bump). I am in love with mine!

Evie2014 · 06/03/2014 19:35

Jessica Simpson.

Seriously, the woman deserves a medal for services to pregnant women. Did you know she has her own range of maternity clothes? I didn't, but tried on a pair of her jeans and have lived in them for the past two months. They are unbelievably comfy! I also bought a pair of her stretchy black maternity trousers which are great too. I can't recommend her stuff enough.

No offence whatsoever to Americans (quite the opposite) but I think the reason the JS jeans work is because they prioritise comfort. I don't think Americans put up with clothing discomfort at all, and their clothes reflect that.

I tried to wear H&M jeans and just ended up giving myself a complex. What's the point in making maternity jeans that don't stretch? They have no "give" in them at all- they're just like normal jeans except with a bump bit added. Very dispiriting when you can't get your (actually quite skinny) legs into them.

I also bought a pair of Seraphine jeans and even one size up the under bump elastic was too tight and drove me mad so I ended up just cutting it off and wearing them a couple of times until they fell down when I was on the train…

As you can see I've put a LOT of effort into finding the right jeans!

Evie2014 · 06/03/2014 19:37

Oh btw I'm much more for over bump. I thought I'd be an under bump girl as that's how I wear my knickers- low-slung- but I hate the way the under bump elastic rolls down/bunches up when you sit down. Over bump you just forget you're wearing maternity clothes. Lovely.

Cariad007 · 06/03/2014 21:16

Gap legging jeans and a pair of black Mamalicious straight leg jeans, both over bump. Assumed I'd be wearing them for a bit post-birth but it's only taken a couple of weeks to fit back into my regular Levi's, thank goodness!

loufizz · 06/03/2014 21:30

I bought new look bootcut over bump jeans- I'm short so they were the only place to get short leg ones. I tried to buy on new look online but they didn't have my size so I ordered them through my local store and got them delivered to home. I was a 14 Jean pre bump, but had to get a 16. They look and feel great considering they were only £18 delivered!

Truffkin · 06/03/2014 21:37

Another vote for H&M over bump skinnies. I have lovely, soft black ones that look like normal jeans but stay up. In my first pregnancy I was all about the under bumps with the elasticated pockets (I found Next the best) but have not got on with them this time, maybe because my bump developed whilst it was cold?!

I'm with you though, it's an absolute ballache to find ones that you love. I have an extensive collection of barely worn maternity jeans!

drawohamme · 06/03/2014 21:57

Asos boyfriend under bump ones. Loved them with a stretchy tee. Only slung them out when DS was 5mo as your boyfriend jeans can't be too big Grin

Mummytobe2014 · 06/03/2014 22:20

I got my over the bump ones from next and haved lived in them Smile

pickletalk14 · 06/03/2014 22:23

New look, soft fit, black over bump skinny jeans. I love them. Bought in pre preg size 14 and fit fine. I don't have skinny legs though so if you have slim legs they might be big.

Just bought a second pair of new look under bump and can tell already they're not going to stay up so well.

I had some asos over the bump ones that were lovely, skinny fit but with stretch, wore them from around 27 weeks right up to 41 weeks, very comfortable, in my normal size.

Teatimecakes · 07/03/2014 06:39

From 12-35 ish weeks I lived in next boyfriend cut jeans. They were lightweight denim, generously cut around the hips and thighs and under bump with adjustable elastic at the sides. I bought my normal size and had no worries at all. They did get tight and uncomfortable towards then end. I got a pair of mamas and papas under the bump for a fiver from eBay - excellent condition and much roomier than the next ones, in the same size. I wore both pairs for ages (months) after the birth as I could gradually make the adjustable sides smaller as a got back to my normal (ish) size - I miss those jeans!

SweetPea86 · 07/03/2014 07:51

Tights and leggings are my new best friend. With nice dresses.

I feel so frumpy and uncomfortable in jeans. I look forward to wearing them again one day lol

amandine07 · 07/03/2014 08:09

Topshop Leigh skinny maternity jeans got my vote- so so comfortable & soft! Under the bump, found over jeans that went over were not comfortable for me.

About £38 but totally worth it as I wore them constantly from about 23 weeks til the day I gave birth and am still wearing them now several weeks post-partum!

Big thing for me is that I normally wear skinny jeans so I felt more like 'me' in these maternity jeans, plus I was lucky not to really put on weight anywhere but the bump/breasts.

I sympathise- finding the right maternity jeans for you can be such a pain!
Just to add, I didn't buy any maternity trousers as I tended to stick to dresses or my jeans plus tops. Trousers are so variable depending on where you are buying them.
Plus I don't normally wear work trousers in my non-pregnant state!

amandine07 · 07/03/2014 08:12

With regard to ebay I never bothered trying to buy maternity jeans on there.

Much preferred being able to return online orders to store or via post...have to be careful on ebay as a lot of sellers won't accept returns.

Yes you can sell on/give to friends but I could not be bothered!

whiteblossom · 08/03/2014 15:51

Thanks everyone. Ive been out hunting today and ruled out, mama & papas & H&M, (new look didn't stock in store). I did get some topshop Leigh underbump jeans, these are more a back up as they are not what I wanted but did look nice. They are more like jeggings, but the quality was good.

Ive just ordered a pair of straight beg over bump jeans from jojo. So I'll have to wait and see about those. (Im hoping come summer I can roll up the bottoms to wear with some nice flats)

The Next jeans are going back- saggy bum and thighs. I did look into the Jessica simpson jeans but Im worried about returns/sizing.

Im now after a soft jersey jacket and a kimono and some good quality vest tops.

Can anyone tell me if the Isabella oliver vest/tank tops are worth the money?? Im only a size 10 top and I need the definition between boobs and bump Grin

thanks everyone !
