Why have my contractions stopped? 39 weeks pg with 3rd child and had regular painful contractions every 10 mins for 3 hours today but now they've stopped! soooo disappointed! was induced at 42 weeks with both the others so was really excited that something was going to happen early! His head is engaged - does anyone think they might start again?

Sorry ellanatal! I'm 33 wks and that's been happening to me since week 25 - annoying isn't it?! My last run was at 4am this morning. grrr. Hope it gets going for you soon

Ellenatal - 'course they'll start again, in fact I bet they have already! I had stop-start contractions for more than five days with my son, before I eventually went into labour proper. I was induced with my second, so I always wonder wheher the same thing would have happened second time round, had I not been induced. When I asked the hospital afterwards why my contractions kept stopping ans starting, they told me that my body just "ran out of steam", which explains why the contractions kept starting again in the middle of the night when I was sound asleep. Hang on in there, you'll be holding that baby soon!
