Give into the fear & excitement?

Need your opinions ladies. I'm 38+6 so well cooked. I have been having braxton hicks for a month now. Baby is wriggling a lot more, midwife says head is 2/5 engaged. Today I have quite strong period pains but am aware I'm symptom spotting and getting exiting!
My parents out law are descending tomorrow to scrub the house (we're
taking advantage mum out laws OCD!). It's a good 3 hr drive so they are staying here overnight. They are lovely but I really don't want them here when I'm in labour - they has said they will leave if I ask them but I feel weird with them knowing I'm in labour before my folks (who also live far away).
Do I give into the fear/excitement that I'm going into labour any minute and asked them not to come? Or am I being silly?
What would you do?

Even if I was 10cm dilated I'd pretend otherwise if it meant someone was going to come and clean my house for me!!

You are utterly MAD if you even consider cancelling on the out-laws

Definitely get the house cleaned! Also, is it your first? Don't get your hopes up: with ds EVERYONE (including my midwife) said I'd go early. He was induced at 40+5

What time will they be leaving tomorrow? maybe see how things progress this afternoon and evening and make a decision before bed. My first was 2 days early and my second 6 days late so i wouldnt assume anything at this stage however i know what you mean, i wouldnt want my inlaws knowing i was in labour before my own parents, bit of an awkward situation.
Maybe you could just say youre not feeling too good and dont actually say you think you could go in to labour?

Thank you good ladies of mumsnet! I am sitting in a sparkling kitchen where the mother out law has somehow found 2 extra shelves of space, the whole place has been scrubbed and cleaned and I now need sunglasses to go into the bathroom! most importantly I didn't go into labour in the middle of all! All good!

It's quite normal to have niggles a week out from your due date - doesn't mean you're going into labour any second though!
