Maternity jeans hell!

Hello.

I have very skinny legs, am a size 8-10. My own skinny jeans are now too tight to wear but just had the most depressing time trying to find maternity ones.

Does anyone have any tips on good shops to try??

Everything I have tried just hung off my bum and legs!

Thanks!

I found H&M the best. They also do jeggings. And Next ones were ok but they come up big.

Banana82 · 03/03/2014 14:36

I second H&M maternity jeans. Love mine.

Snowlet · 03/03/2014 14:37

Yep if you want close fitting, definitely H&M, though in the end I couldn't justify spending £30 for a pair with just three months left so instead I bought a couple of stretchy skirts from their (non-maternity) basics range and I've been happy with those and the organic H&M maternity leggings. So that's an option too!

MrsMonkeyBear · 03/03/2014 14:38

Ooh Harry, gonna keep an eye on this post. I also have very skinny legs!! This will be a vey hand topic!

MummytoMog · 03/03/2014 14:41

I can't get my quite normal legs into H&M maternity jeans. Which made me feel sad and fat and hateful. Then I bought some size 12 Next maternity jeans, being a 12 in their normal range, and they are bleeding massive. I'm sure they will be fine in a few months (only at end of first tri) but they're falling off me now. Going to order some size 10 ones and hopefully they will do for a bit and then will work afterwards too.

Harryhart · 03/03/2014 14:49

H&M were far too baggy. I have a feeling I'm going to have to get used to tights and dresses!!

Hi, I have fairly skinny legs too. I have a pair from funmum from 1st pregnancy which actually hugged my thighs! Good thing they do is three lengths too which hm don't, as I'm short mine were 28inch leg length. They now seem to do skinny maternity jeans which I can't justify getting as I've only got 7 weeks left and they were out of stock a few weeks ago. May be worth a look?

EssexGirlLottie · 03/03/2014 15:12

I'm a totally different shape/size to you i'm guessing but i love my under the bump mamas and papas ones. I'm usually a size 14 pre bump and the size 14 ones are really well fitted. They also have an adjustable waist band and belt loops so they stay up. Not sure they'll do my the whole time as they are so tight, but well worth it for my second trimester.

fukkigucci · 03/03/2014 15:18

I loved new look for maternity jeans.

SellyMevs · 03/03/2014 15:43

I was going to say H&M too, they actually fit me like a proper pair of jeans without the saggy bum. But I'm a curvy 10 - 12 so don't have the slim legs. My SIL is very slim (6 - 8) and has been wearing Next, but I think their sizes can come up quite different depending on the cut.

AJay28 · 03/03/2014 15:57

I have found some asos ones to be the best fitting. Also under bump jeans seemed to be more fitted on the hips/bum than over bump ones.

PenguinsEatSpinach · 03/03/2014 15:59

New Look might be worth a try? I have to say, skinny maternity jeans tend not to be nearly as snug as normal ones. I think it's a combination of where they have to sit on your hips and leaving a little room since most women do tend to put on some weight across the hips and arse during pregnancy (sadly I put on both my allocation and someone else's Grin)/

kiwiscantfly · 03/03/2014 15:59

Try Top Shop, I lived in their maternity Leigh jeans, v.skinny!

BikeRunSki · 03/03/2014 17:27

Seraphine maternity jeans are so worth the expense!

mummytobejuly2014 · 03/03/2014 21:04

topshop leigh jeans wont stay up on me. they have a sort of baggy crotch for supposedly skinny jeans. im 22wks & am a size 8-10 usually. had no success in new look either.

cosmicnibble · 03/03/2014 22:00

Have you tried going down a size? I'm usually an 8-10 but find 6-8 better in maternity wear as it's cut quite generously a lot of the time I've found..

mrsmellow · 03/03/2014 22:02

Seraphine here too!

firstbaby01 · 03/03/2014 22:05

I just got two pairs of really comfy jeans in the sale in new look for about £10 each. I'm was a size 10 and had to go down a size to an 8 tho

OwlinaTree · 03/03/2014 23:30

New look do skinny under bump. Mothercare do skinny over bump I think, but they are dearer.

Cariad007 · 04/03/2014 02:34

I bought some legging jeans from Gap and a pair of black straight leg jeans from Asos (Mamalicious I think). Both over bump and comfortable.

Plateofcrumbs · 04/03/2014 06:27

I normally find skinny jeans very difficult to buy (what fits my hips are too tight round my legs). But all the maternity ones I have fit pretty well (although none of them stay up, I have to keep hoicking them up by the belt loops). So I can understand that if you have skinny legs it might be difficult. I think asos own brand a the tightest I've tried, so might be worth a look. H&M fit me well so might not be skinny enough for the OP.

amy246 · 04/03/2014 07:18

I have very skinny legs but a slightly curvier bum: the primary maternity skinny jeans seem to be great for me with lots of bump room :)

hubbahubster · 04/03/2014 08:06

I'd second going down a size. Bought some Mamalicious jeggings from ASOS but they're huge on thighs and bum, wish I'd gone smaller!

Mummyinpink1289 · 04/03/2014 13:41

i vote ASOS - although i agree with hubba go down a size maybe - i ordered 2 pairs of size 10 and they are huge around my bum waist and just keep leaving me with a baggy bum. i did try ordering a size 8 in a different style but they were so tight i couldnt even get them on!
so they have a 50% off sale on until thursday and the jeans on there are now 15 meaning i could order both size 8 and 10 and send back the one that dont fit!

Good luck!

Magix · 04/03/2014 13:42

H&M definitely !!! Smile
