Hi I am only 4 weeks gone and have a real bump! My ds is only 9 months so I understand that my insides won't have fully 'sprung' back into place, but this just seems bizarre. I know people say you show earlier with no 2 and some other new pg friends here have said they also showed early, but 4 WEEKS!!!!! Anyone else had this or knows why? I mean it's hardly because the baby's big is it? It's not as if the bump is hard, more like too many pies, but it is only in the bump area and I look really pg!!!! Has my fat just all gone on holiday to the same place?

I mean I have just got my maternity clothes out the loft

Twins?????? Sorry but I know this happened to someone I know. She was really big second time round and it was twins. On the other hand when my SIL had number 3 she was enormous right from the word go. Are you sure you are only 4 weeks????

Enthusia · 10/08/2006 20:31

Thanks Charlee I would imagine water must be part of it!!!!!! Maybe I am just one huge water bomb ready to be thrown!

Slingywife - I am pretty sure I'm 4 weeks as I did a hpt on Sat and it was bfn but the monday one was bfp so I can't be that far along, or can I? As for twins, my best friend had twins first time round and she has been having great fun with this thought since Monday, thing is my scan isn't til october and I don't even see a mw til mid September!!!!!!! AAAArrrrggghhhhhhh suppose I will just have to swell and see!

No you are probably right. If your size is concerning you then why not make an appointment to see your gp. You can tell him your worries and it might just make them scan you quicker.

Enthusia · 10/08/2006 20:45

Good idea, will wiat til next week and see what happens then may well make an aptmnt, thanks!!!

if you are concerened you can ask for an early scan but they may not then scan you at 12 weeks I was big from week 4 with 2nd (only one baby)

lanismum · 10/08/2006 22:10

im about 5 weeks gone with number 2, and my belly is def swelling already, im a bigger girl (size 16) so i thought this might be why, hadnt even considered the possibility of twins!!!!!

Enthusia · 11/08/2006 06:47

lanismum, I am also a size 16! But the bump is def bigger! Thing is it feels weird wearing maternity clothes already!

enthusia, oh well, i suppose we will just have to wait for our 1st scans! all my maternity trousers are in storage, so im just in my normal clothes at the min, but they all feel very tight and uncomfortable.

Helgand · 11/08/2006 14:02

This is not unusual (speaking from own & friends' experience)- and midwife & GP explained that it is due to your uterus moving more easily up from the bottom bit of your pelvic area as it has done it once before. I was horrified when this happened to me & thought I must be further ahead in my pregnancy than originally thought & even got midwife to check for heartbeat early but the dates were correct & no it wasn't twins - and nor has it been for any friends with same early bump. It doesn't happen to everyone though. Just enjoy the fact that you will get loads of use out of those maternity clothes!

I;m 15 weeks preg with number 2 and have been in maternity clothes since around 5 weeks. DH & I kept it from friends BUT at a recent get together I had to tell them because it was obvious . Also I didn't want them thinking "Gosh, one baby and she's let herself go LOL.."!!!

BTW the 12 week scan showed one gorgeous hiccuping little baba..!!

Congrats and good luck
