Also, if you can sew at all, there are a lot of really easy patterns for baby/little girl dresses.

bruffin · 02/03/2014 10:15

I dont think op is talking about it permanently, just something like matching prints when they first meet.
Cersai that was unecessary and mean to the OP

CersaiLannisterBaratheon · 02/03/2014 10:16

I have RTFT.

I still think it's odd to think dressing a newborn baby and a 5yo is a good idea.

I'm not being mean, I'm genuinely asking if you plan to dress a brand new baby in actual clothing.

I really like the family t-shirt sets from this [[http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/twistedtwee Not on the Highstreet] seller.

I like the pint and half-pint sets, plus the oak tree and acorn. That way you can have ones for parent and both siblings.

What is wrong with actual clothes for a brand new baby Hmm
Mine had clothes and babygrows and survived. Not everyone is obsessed with babygrows until they are walking
It doesnt take a lot of imagination to get what the OP is after

Ugh it's horrid seeing a brand new baby in clothes.

Fine after a month or so, but the early days, I really find it odd.

IsItMeOr · 02/03/2014 10:28

I know bruffin DS was in babygrows/all-in-ones for as long as possible because I found it easier. I don't think he cared...and his friends seemed perfectly happy in their clothes too.

Personally, I think it's whatever the parents want to do and find suits them.

IsItMeOr · 02/03/2014 10:30

[shrugs]
Personally, the only thing I find it horrid seeing a brand new baby in is one of those charity ads re famine/disaster relief.

funkylittlepeople.co.uk will have some bits to fit baby and your daughter, cute tops and dresses but all comfy soft cotton fabrics.

polaryn o pyret willhave matching hats, leggings, tops etc all comfy for baby. but expensivw si keep an eye on sales.

mollycoddle childrenswear is a site of gandmade clothes but good orices and she starts at baby size and does up to 8? anyway she will do bespoke orders for you, so if your elder dd has a fave thing then she will do somethung in that for her and baby if you want. my dd has a dinosaur dress from there and a liquirice allsort dress and a couple of others. simple cotton dress you couldeasily put over a babygrow and your elder dd could wear the same one over long sleeved top and leggings.

good luck.

bruffin · 02/03/2014 10:35

I know MrsDevere, and the babygros have to be dreadful clashy stripes or the baby cant express itself.

5madthings · 02/03/2014 10:36

tobytiger will do matching/coordinating clothes as well.

isitme1 · 02/03/2014 10:37

Hi everyone, thanks again :) I love love love the little sister big sister tops on "not on the high street" they are really sweet. I have already bought lots of babygrows for dd2 and little cardigans etc. CersaiLannisterBaratheon if only u knew how stressful it is to have a child with autism, im only asking for some helpful comments im hardly going to be dressing the baby in jeans and a jumper an hour after giving birth, but maybe a pretty little pair of leggings and a soft cotton long sleeved top, I don't think that's unreasonable. Im not planning on doing it all the time, esp when the baby is so young but its just one of my ideas to get my dd1 involved with dd2, along with them giving presents to each other. I don't want her to feel pushed out or not acknowledge the baby either, its so heart breaking when instead of being excited dd1 just looks at me blankly because she doesn't understand whats going on. She cant speak and is non verbal so its difficult to know how she is thinking and feeling so just want to make the transition as easy as possible. I really hope u never have to experience what iv had to go through, as u sound so narrow minded that I doubt u would cope.

"Urg it's horrid seeing a brand new baby in clothes."

Perhaps if you don't have anything constructive to say you should wander over to AIBU and take your bad mood out over there.

FrancesGlass · 02/03/2014 10:39

I'll second the suggestion of trying P.O.P. (Polarn O. Pyret) -there you will easily find cute & comfortable matching pieces for the sisters. They'll probably be styled differently (and thusly age appropriate for each), but they'll have the same colour palate and prints.

Happy shopping!

And congratulations to your daughter on becoming a big sister!

aprilanne · 02/03/2014 10:40

i agree try next .i have 3 sons with 5 years apart then 4 .i have 2 potrait photos of them all in matching outfits .i thought they looked lovely .just do whats right for you

FrancesGlass · 02/03/2014 10:42

thusly?! I think I meant 'thus'...but I'm horribly sleep deprived so nothing looks correct at the moment...gah.

bruffin · 02/03/2014 10:42

OP
another idea maybe get your little girl a doll with a matching outfit to the baby or something like that. The doll can be a gift from the baby

Twoprincessesistwiceasnice · 02/03/2014 10:43

Thanks so so much for all of your suggestions!! I like the idea of something bespoke, as my dd1 is mad about dinosaurs so might be nice to have the baby in something that matches and something dd1 would like so that's a great idea, thanks 5madthings and I have bought plenty of babygrows but also lovely little cute outfits too for when family come to visit or we go out, each to their own is what I say, I would never ever try and impose my view on others, and yes MrsDeVere dd2 is due July so will be the summer :) and thanks Vatta am going tro try and sew some little cotton dresses maybe, if I get the time! I look after ds1 all day and as soon as hubby comes home im off to work! but might be something nice to think about when I go on maternity leave :) xx

Thanks Francesglass iv never heard of P.O.P so im going to have a look today, the outfits don't need to be identical, just something she will recognise and obviously appropriate to each :) and what a lovely idea bruffin!! I never thought of that, I could sew a little outfit to match the dolly which would be sweet and thanks everyone for all ur help and support, its much appreciated, I don't want to have a go at anyone, just really wanted some genuine help and ideas :)
