It could well be the start of SPD. It can be quite painful.
Or it could just be stretching pains...

could you get an appointment with your gp for today?

maretta · 10/08/2006 13:34

SPD is pain in the ligaments accross the front of your pubic bone. You'd feel it right at the front, particularly when you spread your legs.

WigWamBam · 10/08/2006 13:34

What kind of pains are they? It needn't be SPD; I had achey, dragging pains that were a bit like those I get when I have with my period (but worse!) from about 16 weeks. The midwives told me it was common, either hormonal or to do with the ligaments softening, and nothing to worry about, and although it continued on and off through the pregnancy it didn't get any worse.

If you're really concerned then you should see someone sooner than next week. Give the maternity ward a ring or see your GP.

I'm getting similiar sort of pains, sort of knife like and low down? (I'm 16 weeks) I know a nummber of people have had similiar things on the January Antenatal thread.

Would be very interested in what your GP says!

In the meantime I hope you feel better

I spoke to my midwife yesturday and she said its nothing to worry about unless i am getting bleeding with it (which im not )
Its just the normal growing pains of everything stretching and preparing for bubs
